And Glenn Morris - came into the side as 2nd choice three years ago. But time and time again he proves he's not only the best at CTFC but he's the best in the league. Glad his new deal is in place
Actually Morris was 3rd choice, bought in to be mainly a goalkeeping coach, while also a player, but behind Mitchell Beeney (who was given no1) and Mersin. Of course it didnt take long to work out who was going to be the main keeper, and he is now one of the best we've had.
Wow, where do I begin..... A hard earned point snatched from the jaws of defeat. My observations Morris had another inspired game, he kept the Plymouth goal tally to a miserly 2 when on another day they would have scored 7 or 8. The 2 CB's played superbly, a good partnership formed after only 2 games. As said before Doherty was caught out of position far to many times, one game he is brilliant (Norwich), indifferent (Mansfield) and shocking (Plymouth). I really like Camara but last night he was a liability, one dribble out of our box towards the end of the game resulted in him laying off a brilliant ball to Plymouths play maker. Our penalty was in my mind a bit soft, but the defender did make contact however slight, Palmer restored to penalty duties did his job. RGC gets better and better and was really pleased he got his goal. Well done to the 800 Plymouth fans a great turnout and their support was superb. Oh well another 37 points should see us safe
.
Pretty well summed up, Fnb.
I was watching from the West Stand nursing an Ingrowing toenail and what I would have liked to have seen was, RGC track back more to help Sesay, who was often exposed with two forwards attacking.
JTG
We've been saying that for a little while now John. The way we set up seems to be quite narrow and although people complain about Doherty etc, there are times when he is faced with 2 attackers because the opponents have put men on the flanks behind our forward players. Crewe did it and Norwich did it to Sesay early on. It means RGC and Bez, or whoever is playing wide have to work hard to get back and support.
Presumably the in-growing toenail resulted from kicking the stand wall when your favourite player came on Saturday? :-)

Have to say that was a very entertaining game of football, as most of our home games have been this year. I think Plymouth had the majority of it and probably deserved it slightly more than us. However, we have a lot of fight in our team that was not there a year ago. Also a soon as Plymouth scored their 2nd the manager was telling them to tighten up and they started falling over and going down injured so I have very little sympathy for them. They were in the ascendency and could of carried on and got a 3rd but choose to stop and so deservedly got punished. Morris was outstanding as normal Sendles-White looks solid and I thought Francomb looked decent when he came on as well.
All in all 4 points against a strong team who came down last year and a team who was in the playoffs last year is a very good haul from our last 2 home games. The squad looks strong in presence on the field and numbers and will only become stronger once our 2 deadline day signings start getting involved as well. I always think you shouldn't judge how a team/management are doing until at least 10 games in and given that is on Saturday I think we can say its been extremely positive and long may it continue!
I wasn't at the game but was following it from oop North on Twitter then highlights on U tube. As the new central partnership seems to be gelling well maybe GC may use Dallison's left footed ability on the left flank.

Glenn Morris, just wow. Sensational all night, but that save from point blank range second half was something else. You could see them cut to the Sky Sports reporter in the West Stand just after, no doubt deciding he needed to tell the country about what glory he had just witnessed.
Probably went something like this: "The Red Devils signed a world class keeper to a new contract a few days ago... and I understand that David De Gea also re-signed with Man Utd."
Plymouth looked like a very good side, no doubt spurred on by a kick up the backside from their gaffer after getting beat at Port Vale on Saturday. Clearly a lot of talent in that side, and it was a bit one way at certain points. But we showed resolve, and used our strengths well. Particularly unleashing Reece and Bez when we could.
Bloomfield was oddly anonymous, but he has just come back from injury. Camara had a mixed game, some bits excellent, some not. Very impressed by Sendles White, and though he started a bit sloppily, Tunnicliffe really improved as the game went on.
Slight concern about the full backs. Both talented footballers, Sesay in particular, but neither seem to have the positional sense to play full back, unless Gab is telling them to completely ignore opposition wide attackers time and again. Their goals both came from the right winger being given way too much time and space, and that sort of goal had been coming all night.
Overall, a positive night though. We're putting in consistently good performances now against good teams, with obvious growth still to be had. Let's go to Northampton and bag another win, cementing our current playoff place!
Funnily enough, I thought Bez's last penalty miss was a better strike than the one Palmer scored, but it's about the keeper guessing right (or not).
Absolutely, but if the goalkeeper guesses correctly then it becomes likely that the penalty taker becomes more on edge then the keeper next time around

Well yes... only as Bez has identically placed every one of his (successful & unsuccessful) penalty kicks... it becomes more a matter of homework, rather than guesswork.
It doesn't matter about how far one team is ahead of the other on possession, corners, shots on target, off target - the only thing that counts is how many time you put the ball into the net legally and we did twice and so did they.
True enough, in boxing you get judged points for attacking, in ice-dancing you get points for style & artistry... in football it is simply about goals scored.
However, when a team has 60% possession & a dozen chances, yet have their score matched by their opponent who have 40% possession & three chances... in any other sector, the latter would be praised for their efficiency & economy...!

Spot on, absolutely... but I will add that we had run the legs off them and were the only team standing at the end... ...our improved fitness this season must be crucial to why we seem more likely to score a late goal, than concede one... ...given the match was played at a frenetic pace throughout, it is a real positive that we finished it looking so strong...!
