There is a possibility that the last 16 could be made up of Crawley, Colchester, and 14 Premier League teams! My brain is working overtime at the endless possibility’s of our opponents in the next round. In no particular order, please share your thoughts on the below:-
1) Colchester please - both teams would be delighted with this as it gives both a genuine opportunity to make the next round. Also guarantees a League 2 club reaches the quarter finals.
2) At home against one of the real big Premier League teams - would be nailed on to be live on Sky, would be great for the club to host and to see such a match at Broadfield.
3) Away to one of the big boys - this could be a great money spinner for the club and although it would be played in midweek, we could potentially take more supporters than we would get if we played it at home. Also a great experience for the team to play at a Premier League stadium.
4) The (red) devil in me says Brighton at home! (That’s if they reach the last 16)
For me a home tie is the big thing here. Anyone other than Man City (who could turn up with their third team and potentially embarrass us) I'd fancy our chances of getting something from the tie.
Please god, not Colchester away...!!!
If we're away, let it be a big one (top half of the Premiership) to ensure a quality day out.
Bollocks was my initial reaction when we got Torquay away back then. Then I thought about it some more, thought sod it we can win this.....and the rest is history. Home advantage, bring it on!!
Week commencing 28 Oct. Its a great chance to reach quarter finals. After Norwich and Stoke cant not win that you would be gutted. No TV crew but should get a reasonable crowd in. Couldve been better and worse.
