Crawley Town play away to Bradford City in League Two of the 2019/2020 season, Saturday 19th October 3:00 pm kick off. Please keep all discussion about the match to this thread. Thank you and come on you Reds!
our defending is an issue that's not been addressed under the current manager (and before him), its disappointing - we are as things stand currently losing to the leaders - its teams above us though where we need to start taking points off them if we are to have a serious go at the play offs. I do believe its getting consistency in performance in general that's our main problem.
We end up completely mid table 13th, W5 D4 L5 goals for and against 19-19 GD zero, 19 points from 14, but closer to the play offs (2 points) against 10 away from the drop. According to twitter it looks like with a ball off the line we had a late rally but wasn't to be.
Not quite sure how we didn't get a draw, but it wouldn't quite fall for us in the box. Their 2nd was a big deflection so can't really say it was bad defending. After that though, we really took the game to them, and apart from a routine (well, worldie really) save from t`cat they didn't threaten much. Stats wise, we had more possession, shots and shots on target. You can quibble about selection and tactics, but if away at a place like Bradford you have 22 shots with 9 on target you're (imho) DEFINITELY heading in the right direction. I'm looking forward to seeing how we'd get on with a fully fit Nadesan to profit on how we played today.
Again we keep up the habit of scoring in every league game this season, just a shame we can't keep them out or we'd be top!
Well yes, obviously; it would mean we have won every game
An obvious point of course, but it shows the potential of this team, that if we could tighten up at the back and convert more of the 15+ shots we seem to have per game then we’d be challenging near the top. I definitely feel we are slowly moving in the right direction and not too far away from making the step up to the play offs.
From yesterday it is clear that ANG has to play, he has made a constant difference in the last few weeks, at this level no one will be comfy with someone constantly running at them with the ball. Our biggest problem is the full backs, Doherty doesn't offer anything and is a complete liability, we looked much more fluid when Sesay came on at left back. We do miss Palmer and never adjust our style of play when he isn't in the team. It's just very frustrating that we only start playing when we are 1 or 2 down.
Just a note on James Vaughan yesterday... I can't write on here what I actually feel about him but the way he dived around yesterday was embarrassing.
