I've spoken to Yemmsy over the years as he likes to attend Crawkey games, i am always impressed by what & who he knows... Proper old skool football man..
I'd like to see him here in some capacity - does not have to be manager although he did well in extremis before - and also Bulman in a tracksuit role...!
Massive gamble, we seem to be doing Dermot Drummy again. Oh well so much for the likes of Paul Tisdale people thought they might get when they were booing Cioffi
I was a fan of Cioffi, but we now move on. Happy with the appointment of John Yems.
If the team fail it won’t be down to poor coaching, that’s for sure.
John is well respected throughout the game, and I feel we are lucky that he really wants to be here. Its allowed us to get things sorted quickly. Now, I suggested the club needed to take their time to make the right appointment. The only way to better that would be to make the right appointment quickly.
Only time will tell, but this could be very good.At the very least we should be seeing 100% commitment from the whole squad.
Not an appointment which is suddenly going to raise the profile or bring fans back just to see our exciting new manager but good luck to the guy and hope it works having DB involved I like that involvement. Certainly would be nice if we could play with a bit more intent and make it much harder for the opposition at the Broadfield. And at least succeed or fail it will stop that old chestnut of Yems for manager every bloody time we sack another one. Suspect also a much cheaper option than somebody like Tisdale, although whether it is ultimately cheaper depends on how we do from now until the end of the season? Also maybe it safeguards Selim's position rather than taking on a higher profile manager from outside?
I think Yems to the end of the season is a clever appointment by the club, someone who already knows the club and players well and appears to be very keen on the job unlike other managers who want to use clubs as stepping stones in their career - any recent Crawley managers come to mind ?
I don't think Yems will tolerate slackers.
And on the 'affordability' side probably not on a big salary by L2 standards and utilising the existing coach, plus DB who is also on site.
So good luck John, I have just decided to go to Stevenage on Saturday.
I wont say Im pleased as I do not know who else was available (Im just being really honest there) and did we really need a knee jerk reaction given we have nothing to contend left this season if you discount the Sussex Senior Cup. However given that Yems was a hero in saving us from past relegation with the handicap of the points deduction I can see the temptation to appoint him. Arguably he deserved at the very least to be short listed for the job. He has always struck me as in the Drummy mould a decent guy and one that wont spout too much rubbish in post match interviews and so on. Im fully behind Yems and with his connections to the club and hopefully the experience he has picked up under some of the country's very top coach/manager like Eddie at Bournemouth, why not. Ive no reason to doubt the club does indeed have special meaning to John and for that reason you have to say he excels way above many others that may have thought they had a chance to manage this great club. On balance and reflection a sensible move especially not dishing out a long term contract. Im sure if it works out John will be rewarded with renewed contract. Many people work in theses short term contract deals in all walks of work so why not football managers too.
Will he get Smith back.I hope it works out for him like other people on here have said he's local and he wanted the job. So i wish him all the best and i hope it works out.

Yeah, me too. It's one I'd earmarked when I looked at the fixture list. Easy trip on Thameslink. Wouldn't have bothered if not for this appointment.
