...the fan base was deeply divided over support for the owners & I was part of a faction regarded with open - and actual - hostility by them.
At some point (with the departure of Hollins & Lewer), John Yems found himself appointed Football Club Manager & his first instruction was to cut an already depleted budget even further. Somewhere & somehow along the line, John agreed to meet me & my cohort.
He had been given the impression we were a wild bunch of troublemakers. He arrived at our meeting to see that we turned out to be a very ordinary cross-section of locals... united by a passion for football & Crawley Town FC.
Which suited him as he is football mad. We had an engaging, respectful & enjoyable dialogue, agreeing to disagree on certain points.
Given the upheaval, CVA & low morale, John did an exceptional job to keep us in the Conference... and (as i had predicted) the Owners chucked him aside as soon as the task was complete.
It is never nice to see decent club servants discarded in such an unprofessional cavalier fashion. I can fully understand why some feel that way about Kelly & will stay away on Saturday as a consequence of her treatment by the club.
However... I personally plan to be there... to support my team and - more pertinently - a bloke who IMHO has waited far too long to return to the home dugout...!

I was and still am skeptical about Yems’ suitability for the role given his lack of management experience (we’ve been here before with Drummy) , however, everyone deserves a chance and I will be there too to support John and the team.
I've just read all through this thread and (unless I've missed it) I cannot see anyone stating why Kelly has got the boot.
The manner of the sacking (by email) is unprofessional and shows a lack of class and as much as I personally like Kelly (always engaging and apparently competent) I find it hard to go from there to never going to a game again.
Having said that, I do wish Kelly success in the future. I've been given the ol' heave ho a few times (mostly correctly) and it is never easy in those first few days. Head up, and look 'em in the eye then you'll soon be back at your best.
On a related issue. Please can we stop referring to the owner and his representatives as the "Turkish mafia" it is bordering on racism.

I agree - no need to drag our Italian friends through the mud by associating the word ‘mafia’ with the Turkish mob. Also - for anyone who has ever done any business in Turkey, none of this should come as a surprise...

Yes, it is uncalled for, but it might be fair to say that employment culture in Turkey differs from here
i.e. (a) due notice given or appropriate payment in lieu of such notice
(b) redundancy pay and/or compensation for unfair dismissal. I suspect that it's more likely to be unfair dismissal; the job still exists as it's being taken over by another, so it can't be regarded as a redundancy. If they call it redundancy, there is then the possible issue of unfair selection - the approximate equivalent of unfair dismissal.
(c) payment in lieu of untaken holiday entitlement (or a deduction if ahead with taking holidays).
No-notice terminations have become more common in recent years because companies fear that continued access to confidential information by an aggrieved employee could prove detrimental. However, payment must be made instead.
Unfortunately, industrial tribunal rules in recent years have become more biased against former employees: after a certain point the complainant must start funding the case - I believe this happens earlier than it used to - and, perhaps more importantly, burden of proof switched from former employer to former employee.
The above is as I understand it, and some of it might be outdated, but I reckon the core of it is about right.
I hope she nails their arses to the wall and/or takes them for a good few grand.
There may be an issue though if she was on renewable contracts rather than a permanent employee.
I have a very bad feeling about the Yems appointment but I hope I’m wrong. I’ve got a very bad feeling about the Derham dismissal but hope somehow there is some kind of plausible explanation.
Of course we should be there on Saturday, way too early to talk about fan boycotts. The situation will become pretty clear when we see how the club behaves during the January window.
Hopefully this is just hysteria, however I fear it is not
hysteria, out of date or just simply not accurate/true however good intent the posting may be - as for playing the match behind closed doors this really is becoming a thread of catastrophic remarks. Any actual evidence about all this? Staff walk out?
