I wont deny the players gave it a real go at the end but once again we fell short. A blunder from Tony lets Bristol score a second and we really have blown numerous chances today and in so many matches. Lacking quality in so many departments.

A Good Effort but Another Craig Blunder costs us yet again. It was a spirited fight back after 41 mins with all players contributing abit.
At the end of the day, that is season over without even trying some of the new boys together this season. Very Disappointing!
I fear that a Hess, Powell, Payne Midfield 3 will drive crowds down below 2,000 for the rest of the season. Would'nt be surprised if Ludwig asks for a transfer!
Even though we lost today I actually thought the performance was better than it was at the weekend, at least we looked more threatening going forward and you can't accuse anyone for not trying out there. Unfortunately when your two center backs have a combined age of over 70 you're at bigger risk of getting done by pace and that was what happened in the end. I know Hessenthaler did well when he came on and managed to get some good tackles in as well as score but I would have brought Ludwig on instead when Tunnicliffe went off injured because he has more pace and Craig and Lynch work a lot better in a back 3.
I hope something is being looked into at the club with all the injuries as the amount of times it has happened this term is abnormal. Plus correct me if I'm wrong but I think Tsaroulla is now suspended for the weekend after his yellow so that's another key player out

Yes better than Saturday but men against boys. We were outplayed in most areas and their level of skill with the ball greatly surpassed ours. Some of their inter passing was what we dream of rather tan the continuous long ball for Nadders to try and catch. Yet again our crossing was abysmal but we tried hard and had enough chances to get something out of the game against one of the best teams we have played here this season.
Bristol are a good team and we were beaten by a better team today, but again we missed 2 or 3 good chances and could’ve got more out of the game. Thought when it went to 2-0 we would crumble, but we brought it back to 2-1 fairly quickly and gave it a good go at the end, but we simply weren’t good enough to get anything out of the game in the end. I’ve been to about 8 home games this season and seen 1 win. We’ve been poor at home this season and had it not been for 5 or 6 scrappy away wins we’d be fighting to stay up. We are where we are and it’s where we would expect to be as we’re 3 or 4 players short of being a top team.

Well hopefully we'll be able to find those 3 or 4 players in the summer, although it's a lot easier said than done. Were definitely beaten by a better quality team yesterday who seemed to have more ideas
I thought that it was an entertaining match and we were beaten by a very good Bristol Rovers side who had some talented players. Their number 10 looked very good. We had plenty of chances but it was the same again, poor finishing. I would like to see us play the ball on the ground more. To many times it was a long high ball for Nadesan to run onto. Rovers coped well with this threat as did Scunthorpe. Bristol Rovers first goal was offside, he must have been interfering with play as he crossed the path of the pass for the other attacker to run onto. Occasionally I have witnessed a Referee get injured and be replaced during a game but never 2 in a month. The replacement Referee also did not appear experienced or fit enough. The ball hit him a few times.
Good to see Hessenthaler and Kwesi back in the side. Sorry for Tunnicliffe as he will miss a few matches with a pulled Hamstring. Hope it is not to serious. I thought our substitutions were OK. Hutchinson looked to lightweight,

Think that's a bit harsh to refer to virtually all our away wins as being scrappy. There were strong performances and deserved wins at Barrow, Orient and Harrogate.

We stuck with a back three after Tunnicliffe went off didn't we? Francombe moved back into the three? It was only when we borught Tilley on that we went to a back four.
Loved the passion of Joel Lynch last night. You can tell he is a winner. Would like to see him as captain next season as Francombe is not a natural leader and too quiet. The same goes for the rest of the team (bar Kwesi). Whereas Lynch is a lot more vocal and leads by example.
Also when possible with enough fit CB positions I would mix it up a bit and play Lynch as a target man up front, with the likes of Kwesi and Nadders or /Nichols/Oteh running off him. Then would use Hutchinson in the hole as he is our most creative midfielder.
Highlights- 1:08 looks a clear penalty to me. Can't believe the ref didn't give it he was perfectly positioned right in front of the action. Yes, it was from close range so defender didn't have much time to react, but his arms are out and blocks a goal-bound shot so for me that is a clear penalty, if we get a penalty and score at that point it's a totally different game. Sub ref was useless and as has been pointed out above he got in the way several times!

Francomb is definitely not a center back though so if that was the plan why didn't we bring Ludwig on instead? If we're to improve we need to stop playing players out of position, even when taking into account injuries

I definitely would get behind the idea of Lynch as captain because of his experience and leadership skills but not sure converting him to a striker would be a good move for someone at that stage of his career. Ideally we need to find a target man in the market during the summer who's good at heading and is strong, the other possible alternative is to put Appiah on an intensive strength programme so he can be converted into one.
Hopefully we won't be resorting to long balls as much next term too as that has made us predictable to play against at times. I'm not that sure about Hutchinson now to be honest as the last couple of games I think he's looked pretty poor, too many bad touches and fluffed a few chances as well
Going slightly off topic, I noticed Dannie Bulman was in the home dugout yesterday, I guess that means he's joined the coaching staff?
Last night was as poor as I’ve seen us play all season. First half particularly. There wasn’t a single player who managed to put his foot on the ball and connect a pass and we seems forever stick between a full press and being played through at ease.
However….that said…Brizzle we’re excellent (first half particularly). They moved the ball well and outnumbered us with their pace and movement and our formation was all wrong as the 3 became a flat 5 and the midfield got pulled into wide areas and the front two became isolated in and out of possession.
The change at half time to go 442 was crying out for and made an immediate difference. It prevented Brizzle from exploiting wide areas and it stopped out central midfield being pulled around all over the place and allowed us to eventually get some possession.
Second half we were arguably worth a point but if I’m honest they should’ve been out of sight by half time. 21 efforts on goal compared to their 12 doesnt tell the complete story unfortunately as it actually amounted to 21 but only 6 on target compared to their 12 with 7 on target. They were streets ahead of us imo.
