The bar takings in Redz and the Sponsors Suite have always been the clubs - perhaps they were suggesting that we don't make enough through this and that's why they are looking at it to increase revenue which can only be a good thing. It's not used to its full potential and to be honest it never has been.
Very true. I am not sure it could ever really compete as "another pub/bar", as that sector has declined over the last decade.
Perhaps explore more niche & targeted opportunities as a "venue", there are one-off opportunities where being a football club would be an asset. This year's World Cup being an obvious one, but more creatively, something like a "fathers day" old-skool disco...(?)
Looking at establishing a regular income stream, possibly it could look to fill the void for "sports & social" & similar functions, appealing to locally-based community, social & business groups...(?)
Somewhat ironically, despite Preston and Eben saying In the podcast about these low hanging fruit etc etc, Preston has mentioned twice in the discord now that he’d like to hire a bar in town out for the England v USA World Cup game so we can gather to watch it with the owners. Facepalm moment. I suggested the first time he said it that there was no need as we have Redz, but he then repeated it again a few days later. Worries me ever so slightly. Podcast sounding like more and more bluster

Redz bar has been bizarrely run for a while now. We used to go after every game but stopped when they kept closing half of it off all the time and ringing for last orders before you've taken a sip of your first pint. We haven't been since the start of the season and started going to the New Moon. Don't even particularly like it in there, but it stays open longer than 20 minutes after the final whistle and you don't have to drink your pint stood up with your nose against the back of someone else's head.
All that place needs to do is open the entire space, keep prices competitive and stay open until 7.30-8pm after the game. How many would love to just saunter in there after a game for 2-3 pints rather than one rushed one and watch the 5.30 kick-off? We always see so many people from the game in the NM for a good 2-3 hours after the game, and you wonder how much money the club misses out on every game to people who either go there or into town.

Agree 100%........... I think the Club are pretty abysmal in that there is money to be made but, there just seems to be an apathy in wanting to grasp the opportunity to do so.
A few seasons ago, I chose not to renew my season ticket. Bearing in mind that the Club had a Data base, no-one from the Club tried to contact me, by phone or post in order to ask why and to try and entice me back. I did raise the question at a Fan's Forum only to be told that "the Club has limited staff and resources to do that". They could have employed someone from the Job Centre for the day and phone the few hundred that didn't renew. Only one renewal would have covered the wage for the day.
Big shake up needed off the field !!!

What would be a say 2 or 3 big things the club could do to get you back as a ST holder?
There is plenty that can be done to improve fans experience. Ryan Murrant tried but since he left we have gone backwards. Catering has to be improved and also the outside drinking area by Redz. For away supporters who have travelled a long way, at least give them the opportunity to get some decent food. For Evening matches where supporters come direct from work more people will require some food. The new owners could do with attending games and visiting Redz bar and all areas of the ground, speak with the supporters and sort out problem areas. There must be big opportunities selling merchandise. We need a bigger and well stocked shop, plus the ability to buy online. These areas offer many possibilities to increase revenue streams.
I would prefer that the infrastructure is improved before promotion. Sort out training ground so that we train on grass. Have an academy where players can play competitive games.
I would prefer an approach where we develop our own players rather than going out and buying a complete new team. Yes we do need some experienced players as well.
John Yems has the ability to take the team to the next level and some extra back room staff are needed. Medical and fitness personnel.
I'm not a drinker myself, but it's a terrible idea to close Redz so soon after a game. There is still plenty of covid around, but maybe look into those opening hours for next season if the slight downward trend continues.?

I'd like to see the away fans have their own bar at the away terrace end.
As much as I like chatting with away fans, getting served in Redz is an unpleasant ordeal, I refer to the queing, not the serving staff as I think they are excellent, efficient and friendly.
If the away fans had their own bar, that would free up some space.
Also an outdoor bar would be good next to Redz especially for big games and big crowds. I'm thinking along the lines of what you see at festivals / fetes etc, eg: a fully stocked mobile bar.
Also why not invite local catering firms who have their own "wagon" to come to matches, you could charge them a "pitch" fee for the day and they keep what they sell. Again, I'm thinking of what you see at fetes / festivals etc, Not those horrible cheap burger ones, more upmarket burgers / pizzas / noodles etc. Orient had up market burgers when we played them away in December.
