Excellent news, and Young is staying on board, while Micciche sounds like a very good assistant as well. Now to see if he can get us above Arsenal in five seasons.
Very excited by this appointment. Really looking forward to seeing what he does with the younger players in particular, plus I have heard he likes to play an attacking style which will be nice to see after the last few seasons
Welcome to Crawley Kevin and Dan. I hope you have a happy and successful spell with us.
I dont think you will have much wriggle room with players as Yems signed quite a few senior players. Your first area of concern is the amount of injuries we had last season. Too many for it to be 'bad luck'.
Don't copy Yems' interview responses (especially regarding refs) but everyone thought his honesty was refreshing.
Welcome Kevin! As others have pointed out some of the teams that got promoted last season had managers who were in their first job and or managed academy/u23 sides plus some of the sides in recent seasons that had experienced lower league managers got relegated so it seems there are no sure fire bets in lower league football these days so any appointment is a gamble to some extent. Harry Kewell tread a similar path going from Watford U23 to us and although he was terrible elsewhere, he actually did a half decent job for us and secured a mid table finish. Let’s hope Betsy can get us higher up the league, but a lot will depend on the budget for next season so let’s see how the recruitment goes and let’s hope the new owners back him in the transfer market!

Given Betsys background working for the FA with England youth teams and Arsenal U23 I suspect he will have a completely different coaching and media style to John, who was by his own admission old school, I think Betsy will be of the new breed of coaches. Will be interesting to see if this new approach will get us any higher up the table. We’ll know whether it’s been a success this time next year!

I wish him well BUT my concern is I believe largely Yems got the best out of the players, so unless there are wholesale changes (I think we now that's not happening with the squad) I'm not sure what more Betsy adds to what we have had. I hope to be proved completely wrong and we will the league at a canter or maybe Im a bad 'loser' given I wanted Evans back. Im 100% behind Betsy though make no mistake there. May you have a long and successful career at the club Kevin. Congratulations on the appointment.
Macciche was the England youth manager for the Sancho / Foden / Smith-Rowe / Angel Gomez / Marc Guehi / Rhian Brewster / Conor Gallagher / Callum Hudson-Odoi group that won the U16s World Cup. He was working with Betsy shortly after this as Betsy joined the set up.
Incidentally Isaac Hutchinson was part of that group for training camps but never made the final squad.
Macciche then took over at MK Dons in League 1 but was relieved of duties with them in the relegation places.
