I'm not even saying any decision is right or wrong, I just don't understand how it seems football took advice from the sport, culture department of government and cricket and rugby did what?
Totallyy bizarre and baffling decision. Whilst the queen was loved by many people, she was hardly a famous football player, so suspending all the weekends games seem a bizarre overreaction between two things that had little in common. I just hope the game on Tuesday goes ahead now. Didn't we suffer enough with all this covid stuff over the last 2 years?!

I'm afraid it's the same old class forces in play that usually singles football out for a hammering by our lords and masters. The proles can't be trusted, the toffs can

I believe I may have answered by own question (And have post on the thread with the poll too) but rather than link that thread here I'm re-posting here (being lazy sorry) - The Queen was patron of the FA so I believe this explains a lot about why for example football is off but cricket and rugby is on.

It's early Saturday and I'm reading how next weekend's football may have to be called off due to policing requirements for the Queen's funeral (most likely on Monday, 19th September). I think the football authorities have acted in haste and should have opted to postpone next weekend's games instead.
