The penalty and sending off was totally avoidable had Travis Johnson kicked the ball into row Z - instead he passed it, Mazeed was caught in possession - and was sent off for trying to clear up Johnson's error. Thankfully the sending off only counts in the Papa John's trophy so he is available to play in the league matches
I don’t like to single out players but I haven’t seen Johnson have a good game except for Fulham when he played centre back. Jayden Davis is by far the better attacking full back but never see him play.

We used to have defenders who could actually defend, and knew how to clear the lines and put the ball out of danger with the minimum of fuss - Joe Walsh, Kyle Fadz, Pablo......
Lynch and Tony Craig fall into that category (and Francomb when he's played at CB) . The younger defenders are obviously being told not to do that, to pass it around the back instead of just getting the ball clear. God knows why. We have some really good young CBs: Ransom, Ludwig, Omole......I wish KB would just let them defend. We wouldn't concede so many soft goals then. It's relatively straightforward to sort out and implement, it just needs KB to want to do that. It's L2 now, not PL Academy U-23 matches.
Far more important for all concerned is working out how we get the ball to our strikers at faster than snail pace. KB loves passing football - we need to do that further up the pitch, not in our own penalty area. Then our strikers might actually get the chance to score some ruddy goals. We have Dom Telford for goodness sake, and Nichols and Tilley and Nadesan, players who can actually score. To me it's not rocket science, but I'm not a football coach. Am I missing something? Or is KB so set in his ways that he can't see the obvious?

Handball and a penalty, yes, but isn't there something they call double jeopardy where a yellow is given rather than red when an offence is regarded as accidental? Clearly, the official saw intent, and may well be right. I'm not so sure though.
There is yes, but that applies to a player making a genuine attempt to win the ball with a tackle.
