The ownership don’t seem to think we’re in a relegation battle, but everyone on here does and the investment required to get out of the National League will be beyond our means (and seeing how clubs fare going down to the National League, we would have a rocky time of it).
This is a good point. I don't think I've once heard Preston or any of the senior staff at the club acknowledge we are in a relegation battle. Which is quite worrying.

Just goes to show how much they understand L2 and English football.
From The Athletic this eve. Very worrying last three paragraphs.
Lindsey, currently Swindon Town boss, will become Crawley's third permanent manager of the season, after Matthew Etherington stepped down just after Christmas. Etherington replaced former Arsenal Under-23s coach Kevin Betsy, who was dismissed in October after one win in his first 12 games left Crawley bottom of the Football League. Coach Darren Byfield has taken charge of Crawley's last two games as caretaker boss, but Lindsey is expected to be confirmed as full-time manager shortly. He leaves Swindon eighth in League Two, only outside the playoff spots on goal difference. Crawley currently sit in 21st place, five points above the relegation zone.
Crawley were taken over in April 2022 by WAGMI United, an American consortium that pledged to take them up the divisions, at least in part funded by the sales of NFTs. The owners lean heavily on an analytics-led approach to recruitment, and appointed Chris Galley, formerly of data analytics company Statsbomb, as their director of football in the summer.
Speaking to The Athletic as part of a wide-ranging feature to be published tomorrow, co-chairman Preston Johnson said of the club's criteria for a new boss:
"We want to make sure it's someone that actually understands why the data can be important, but also understands the rest of the game of football.
"But also, more than anything, can command hard work, can command respect from players and implement real change. With everything that's been going on.
"There's been a lot of craziness here in Crawley...we need to turn a page in 2023 and have a reset and we need to have a manager
Are they any good? We desperately need some full backs, hopefully Landolo is a RB. And a shake-up of our midfield wouldn't go amiss - but not at the expense of ditching Francomb and Hessenthaler.

Iandolo is a LB. Somewhere I don’t think we are particularly weak. Gladwin would be a decent signing though I think.

Now that Francombe is in Crypto jail we desperately need a right back

We should never have got rid of Archie Davies. So lacking in RBs at the club it's a joke. Francomb is a midfielder playing out of position at RB. Gallacher is back from his loan but if Landolo comes in, I guess he'll be off again.
Iandolo is more of a wing-back/winger than a left-back. He's not great defensively. He plays the occasional blinder but is inconsistent and will also have the occasional shocker. It'll be sad to see him go mainly because he has been here so long, but I doubt you'll find many Swindon fans too upset about him leaving. He's very replaceable, but is versatile and makes a great lower-league squad player.
Gladwin is a luxury player. He's one of those that will do nothing all game and then win the match with a worldly pass from nowhere. But he has a tendency to go missing in games completely. He's also a bit slow. I'd rather he stayed to be honest to see what the new manager can get from him, but he's another who's replaceable.
It just get worse and appointing SL smacks of absolute desperation by WAGMI. A massive gamble just like Betsy was. SL could relegate the club. I really hope the dealfalls through. If SL is appointed outside Swindon hashe ANY clout to bring players in? Very much doubt it so we can only offer £££ so Prestin and Co. better have plenty sacks of gold to tempt PROVEN quality in. Our league status is at stake.

I don't see why they can't keep Byfield on until the end of the season. He knows the players, and will be able to get the best out of them, much like Lewis Young did. I'm sure Galley/Wagmi will find some obscure statistic to justify getting rid of Byfield and bringing in Lindsey.
This constant changing of the manager every few weeks is really not helping the team's efforts to avoid relegation.

If SL is the new manager he could end up going back to Swindon last game of the season needing a result to avoid relegation. WAGMI's worst appointment to date.
Darren Byfield played for Scott Lindsey at Tamworth so will very likely be part of his staff and it wouldnt be any surprise if Darren had a role in getting Scott to Crawley
