2024 - P17 W10 L5 D2 F 29 A 16 PPG 1.88 Imho 8 points from last 5 should get a p/o spot, the obvious snag being that in those we play 2 teams above us, and 3 scrapping to avoid relegation.
Realistically, 5th is now as high as we'll finish as Crewe's current form is dire and we're only 2 pts behind with a game in hand and Barrow surprisingly lost today. Our GD has also improved immeasurably
Crewe's remaining games - Morecambe (a) Grimbo (h) Wrexham (h) and Colchester (a)
I would discount Gillingham (max 69) and probably Harrogate (max 70). However, I would include Doncaster the form team at the moment, as they have won last 5 (max 73).Their last five games are:
I found it interesting listening to Grant McCann Midweek - he thinks '72' is the magic number to make the play-offs, so basically he was calling on his team to win their last 6 games to make the play-offs. 1 down 5 to go. Had Doncaster not had HORRENDOUS injuries between Sept & Jan , then I think they would have been in the Top 3 now. I think they are a Good Thing for Promotion next season, hopefully not pipping us this season.

I like to work out who I think was our best opposition this season at home and prior to Doncaster, I thought Mansfield (and possibly Crewe) were the best side we played when they beat us on that Tuesday night early new year.
Doncaster though, as evidenced by their performance against us, look very strong and hard to break down. They also have real threats up front and play as a team. I reckon they would definitely have gone up this year if they had their long term injury players back before they did this time round.
Not the most glamorous style of play but extremely effective.

Crewe for me.
On the face of it our remaining fixtures offer us a great chance to get into a good playoff position but still the likelihood of a few banana skins along the way and probably at the Broadfield
Crewe or Mansfield are the best sides I have seen this year at the Broadfield (although Wimbledon impressed me in the first half) Like Westander, I feel any slip up is most likely to happen at home.
If everyone wins their games we get in play offs so long as we don't drop more than 3 points - we also need better GD than Walsall on that basis (currently we have a +3 advantage). Its achievable I say win 3 from 4 and we will be there if we occupy the last play off spot its likely to be MK Dons and what a match that would be - how many thousands can we take to MK away for the 2nd play off leg? Then Barrow in the final.
What you say should be enough as it would have 74 points which only Walsall could match that and they are playing Wimbledon away in their last game. I am hoping Grimsby will be save by the time we play them. Also concerned about Doncaster who can get 73 points and won 7 in the row. I think it is between us, Walsall and Doncaster for 7th.
After last night's result I think automatic promotion is beyond us! Could get 6th if best Barrow, but think 7th is looking more likely.

doubt much to gain between 6th and 7th place unless Mansfield or Wrexham finish 4th
