Very sad and shocking news. His tenure here was always debated but he definitely brought some happy memories for me. More importantly, he was a decent, humble and genuine bloke who I'm sure will be missed by all that knew him. RIP.
somebody on the site mentioned after the last England game that three of the youngsters he'd trained (loftus-cheek, abraham, solanke) had become full internationals in the one game and looking at the quality of some the other names he coached reacting to the news shows what a quality youth coach he was.
it was always going to be difficult translating that to a league 2 side, but i enjoyed the way he went about it and even when things were not working out, he was as others have already said, always totally honest and a genuinely decent man.
So sad. When my grandson was mascot twice last season he took the time to talk to both him and me before the game and came across as a really nice bloke and a proper gentleman. My condolences to his family and friends RIP Dermot.
I was shocked when Alex told me about Dermot. Disbelief. I have heard many fine things about the Gent and can see many fitting tributes to Crawley Town FC's former manager. RIP
