I agree with that Ant. A first chance to see the new squad, the new kit, and a kids fun day too.I think there will be a decent crowd for this one. Well done CTFC.
i be amazed if crowds above two thousand regardless of entry fee.
its only a chelsea 11 so will be full of kids, be lucky to get 1000 through the gate which is the whole reason we are only pricing the game at £1

its so mickey mouse why do we bother? Why not play some scots team on tour or a French team we are virtually in Gatwick cheap flights and so on FFS who arranges these games no imagination what so ever...what next another PSF versus Millwall?
You'll have to forgive me for my ignorance, but being a JCL born in the 90's I started watched the reds around the time that we reached the conference when I was around 11 so I never experienced any games against Dover, what I want to know is, was the rivalry that fierce? And would it still be that fierce some 15, 20 years or so later?

I would suggest the rivalry has long diminished, sadly. At the time it was good, although it lasted only a few short years. Dover actually leapfrogged us for conference football (around '89) but that didn't stop the bitter feuding!!! The Dover keeper (Maurice Munden) was a proper crowd pleaser.Sharp on the tongue as well as sharp in goal, a real treasure. So easy to wind up....the Reds hardcore in the shed re-worked the Dover fans song for their hero "Mo,Mo,Super Mo"......the end result would surely end in bans for the singers in this day and age. Dover had a real muppet "super fan" known locally as "top of the league"....this because of his outrageous quip that his beloved team were better than ours, just because they were top of the league....the southern league southern, when we were riding high in the southern league prem.....but yet they beat us in the league cup!! 😩
As Dover made their way through the southern prem and in to the conference, leaving us behind, a good following of Crawley lads made their way to Gander a Green Lane (Sutton) in their conference debut season, all wearing CTFC hats and and scarfs to say "hi" for their away game at Sutton. Mr top of the league was there, confused as ever!!
The tides soon turned with Dover getting relegated, not before using the services of Crawley lads Simon Wormull and Joff Vansittart to their content, adding to the dislike of one another. Several encounters at the Crabble ground, with the voiceferous reds contingent and equally loud home support made for a superb rivalry, if not strictly local.
To be honest, they are actually quite a friendly bunch, although I would say if our paths were to meet on a more regular basis then I'm sure the rivalry could/would resume!!

Interesting to know armchair, sadly we don't have any real rivalries anymore, the best we got were some good local matches against AFC Wimbledon and Luton in the conference and League 2, particularly in our conference winning season. Apart from that a little bit, I've never experienced us having rivalry!
I would add that I particularly enjoyed that season, as for one season, we were 'moneybags' Crawley a big fish in a small pond tearing up the non league, disliked by all the other clubs because we had a bit of money and a controversial manager.
Now we're just little Crawley who nobodies heard of!
I'm hoping with Kewell in charge, being a reasonably famous former player, he can raise our profile a bit and make things more interesting again!
I hope so too Alex, but I must say that thus far I have been very disappointed with the conduct of HK in the fans engagement area..... Popping in to say the lads are going to have some "hard work ahead of them' during pre season.....and so far saying little else, really hasn't impressed me too much.
