Signing this level of player is a major gamble that the club cannot afford to lose. It shows a lack of ambition and lack of money signing players from clubs that far below us. Hendon couldn't beat Dulwich Omelette in the play off final and have been shifted from the Ryman Premier to Southern League Premier South in which they will get murdered next season! However promising this player is, does anyone (apart from the one who signed him) think he will withstand the rigours of a relegation fight in League 2? I sincerely hope I am wrong. Signing more players from this level of club will be an extremely worrying sign. And before anyone mentions Vardy and Fleetwood- Hendon is not Fleetwood!

Have you read the recent article detailing our accounts? Who do you propose we sign?

I don't propose we sign anyone in particular. I read the article after posting the above. It looks like we are in for another tough season. I just hope the fans don't drift away. I see on this forum that loyal forumite and supporter is taking a year out. It is all a cause for concern!

Maybe you would like to pump hundreds of thousands of pounds of your own money into the club, so that we can afford the sort of players you expect us to sign?
Either way, stop spouting ill informed rubbish on here. We have RR+R for that.

"Ouch!" I though I was just making a valid point rather than spouting ill informed rubbish. And exactly where am I ill informed? No one on here can say honestly that signing this player is NOT a gamble. The "accounts" thread shows that the finances are finely balanced. The part about Hendon is a statement of fact apart from getting murdered next season which I admit is opinion. Oh well, I forgot how sensitive some people on here are. At least you demonstrate that the best form of defence is attack, even if it is directed to someone who really is not an opponent! Over and out!

I just asked you to stop talking nonsense on here, as you clearly have no idea about the level of finances required to run a football club, or how little money CTFC actually has to splash around. Hardly an attack, mate. Which I guess is a statement that could have been made about our first team at times last season

Some decent players seemed to come out of the V9 Academy last season including one who had an excellent season for Stevenage and was their player of the year. Cannot see how it is much more of a risk if at all than bringing over unproven foreign imports. Also an older journeyman with league experience is likely to be less hungry to succeed than this lad who should come in with something to prove. And the Ryman or SL and both good standards of football. Peterborough as one example have never been put off from signing non league talent. Anything of higher proven quality than all that I would assume we cannot afford!!
In case anyone is interested I found this clip of a match between Leiston and Hendon. Our new signing shows his arse...I mean some class around the 7 minutes 20 second mark.
My personal view is that I would rather see the Club take more of a gamble on a young, upcoming, hopefully hungrier team playing quick attacking football (with a couple of experienced heads) than to potentially overspend on a team full of more 'established' players who may not have the desire. It's a fine line to get it right though and requires a good judge of player and character to make it work. The other advantage to gambling on lower league players is the potential sell on value they would have if it works out.

trouble is since the days of the great Steve Evans we havnt had any great scouting.

I agree Enzio and Morris have turned out to be complete rubbish, if only we had a decent scout

Collins was crap too 🙄
To be fair he was pretty well known without scouting, but possibly due to extra curricular activities he may have been seen as damaged goods by some clubs. We resurrected his standing!
