Time to put his money where his mouth is....if Mr Erin doesn't spend the money he received for Mr Collins his 8 year plan to be in the championship is all talk and no action...^

So the £1m he'd already put in before yesterdays departure of Collins doesn't count?
Wimbledon are prepared to let T Barnet go as he is surplus to their requirements.
The problem with Barnett is that his record is really very ordinary, at Macclesfield and Crawley he scored 27 times in 84 games but has never scored more than 7 in a season since, 39 goals in 197 games is almost identical to Harrold during the the same period, 2011/12 season to date
i would take Barnett over Harrold any day of the week, at least he has proved he can do it unlike Harrold, but no point have 2 of the same type players in the squad
assuming Harrold stays fit it would be a waste of resources and money
Basically they have to replace Collins purely for his finishing.
However I did think fitting Collins in was a problem if you play 442 but it suited DD's tactics. HK may have other idea's I am really pleased Matt signed for several reasons but he is not a Collins replacement. First he is a great professional and his influence on the dressing room and team cant be underplayed. He is becoming a legend, Goalkeeper, Manager target man... And finally as a player, WHEN fit I think he is is the best target man we have had. But he creates rather than score, I think 10 goals would be a good return for the season.
As said his fitness is a gamble and in that sense he cant be relied on but if the contract is right its got to be a worth while gamble. And I still think Harrold and Murphy could do well. But I think Murphy needed a target man to feed off (Collins wasn't that sort of player.)
Harrold would be the perfect target man for Murphy, if we sign him. Camara could be good but is unproven, so I do think we need to sign a decent centre forward who will get us the goals we need. Cox and Enzio can also play as a no. 10, and are probably better there than on the wing. A new main striker is a must, and the rest of the players need to do their bit and start contributing some goals as well.

becoming a legend? only in the eyes of the deluded and the Physio who can thank him for his continued employment
Harrold is no more a legend than Gary Alexander is in my eyes who scored 13 in 46 as opposed to Harrold's 9 in 68 and again was a target man and was also caretaker manager
Harrold's a handy player to have at this level - if he stays fit. A big if, but we saw what he could do a couple of seasons ago. I don't think his game's ever been just about goals. His link up play is useful and it's worth remembering he was a big reason why Murphy did so well with us in his first spell.
However, whilst he's a decent option to have, he's no replacement for Collins - and neither is Camara. The issue we have now is that clubs are aware we have some money to spend and will therefore drive the price up for players we could be looking to take off them.
Really, we should have done what Everton are doing in spending the money they'll get from the sale of Lukaku and spending the cash prior to his departure.
There's not much out there at the moment that could be realistic but we will have to spend, after all, this replacement could well mean the difference between ending up in the Conference this time next year or surviving in this division. We need to get it right.
Was it down to coincidence that within an hour of Collins' sale being confirmed yesterday that Doncaster took Andy Williams off the transfer list? Doing so is likely to push the price up, if we're interested in him - and we bloody well should be. I can't see us doing better than signing Williams, to be honest.
If we want to push the boat out - really push the boat out, I mean - could Jay Emmanuel-Thomas be an option on loan from QPR?
By the way, if these 'strong calibre' signings that Selim has promised turns out to be a couple of Premier League kids on loan and a potential non-league gem then I think fans will know the real ambitions of the board.
I wouldn't be surprised if at least a couple of signings came from the continent Holland or even the Australian league. I cant imagine Kewell's views aren't being sought and he has said he would like to bring in some antipodean talent.
I personally think we need a striker and a versatile fullback that can perhaps cover both sides. We have a load of midfielders and wide players - Roberts, Cox, Clifford Smith , Kabi , Bulman, Enzio, Sanouh and Payne I cant see the point of bringing any more in unless they are clear cast iron certain to be better than those nine.

Wonder if we'd try and make a move for Dave Tarpey at Maidenhead. Scored 37 goals last season in the Conference South. Obviously a big step up to League Two but worth considering.
A decent goalkeeper is a must. If anything happens to Morris we will have huge problems. Whilst Mersin is a great keeper we should try to sell him to a Chineese team.
We got a great season out of Collins and making money out of any signing is a bonus for us... the thing is he knows he can do better and maybe its not always good to hang onto a player in that situation but he will be missed, any goalscorer of his proven quality is bound to be... we will need to spread the goals around a bit more this time and that will require a rethink of how we shape up to play... it is a disappointment but hey-ho it is also an opportunity... lets push on..!
