Former Newport County man becomes fourth summer signing
The club are delighted to announce the signing of midfielder Mark Randall on a two-year contract.
The former Arsenal, Chesterfield, MK Dons, Barnet and Newport County midfielder joins the Reds after leaving the Welsh side at the end of last season.
The 27-year-old central midfielder played a pivotal role in the Exiles’ survival last term under Mike Flynn as County survived on the final day of the 2016/17 campaign.
Randall represented Arsenal in the Champions League, Premier League and the League Cup during his time at the north London club where he graduated from their academy.
“As soon as I got a phone call from the Head Coach my mind was made up – I didn’t hesitate,” he told the club’s iFollow service.
“I also know Warren (Feeney) from my time at Newport County too, he was great to work with and so the two of them were a big factor in me signing here.
“I like to get the ball down and play, and every time I’ve played against Crawley that’s what they’ve done.
“I’m just looking forward to getting started here now and want to do well this season.”
Director of Football Selim Gaygusuz said: “We’re delighted to welcome Mark to the club and add more quality to our midfield.
“The boys have returned to training this week and Mark represents another good addition to our squad.”
I seem to recall he is a bit like Conor Henderson as a youngster passing midfielder who was supposed to be the next big thing but didn't kick on. Ten midfielders we are going to have to release some of them as we will be paying players to gather splinters.
Welcome - fingers crossed he finally shows his potential at Crawley

Randall seems a decent signing if it means one or two of the current squad get moved on, you can only assume that WF knows enough about him. On the downside he doesn't seem to have played that many matches during his career, on the upside he was one of the Newport squad that played their guts out to stay up last season and that's something Crawley could have done with at times
Welcome Mark. Last season it was the midfield that needed strengthening. With recent signings we should be looking to release a couple.. Regarding Danny Bulman, it may be that we have to manage the matches he plays in to get the best from him. One thing that i have learnt is that as you get older your recovery time increases. Maybe playing saturday, tuesday, saturday could take its toll..
Once HK has had a chance to assess all the players i would expect some may be released.
I would like to know what our plans arefor an under 23 side this season? Or have they been shelved.
Not sure whether we have too many or not. I make it 10 ( so yes, too many), but that includes Sanoh who I believe is a midfielder rather than a striker, and also Clifford and Roberts. Are they still with the club?
