Bruce Winfield his backers and Steve Evans provided me with the most enjoyable seasons I have ever had in 50 years supporting Crawley Town, such a shame that your high moral standards must have stopped you attending and sharing my wonderful memories.

I think it's pretty well documented that my moral standards on this particular subject (and those of two others in particular) meant that I've missed out on a few memories...
In the main I have those same, shared experiences that you refer to, but to me they are devalued by what I now know, but didn't necessarily at the time.

I have no idea about the goings on at the club then or now, however if Steve Evans was being paid off the books would this not only have been immoral and possibly a breach of FA rules? I don't know the answer hence the question

What a brilliant posting, one of the most memorable on all CTFC forums, I hope everyone shows you the respect you deserve.

thats opinion not fact proven.
RRR, Matt is a trusted and well respected member of the CTFC community unlike you or I,He knows far more about the club than you or I too so if Matt believes this happened who are we to doubt him?
Most of the stuff you post is complete drivel without foundation so it is a bit like you calling the kettle black in this instance
I refused to attend whilst the Majeeds and Evans were in charge. I stand by my decision to do that - it was based on several factors and led to me being threatened and abused by the ownership and in some cases by our own fans (I wasn't alone in receiving these threats)
I returned when Bruce was the front man of the club believing him to be a man of honour and integrity. And I enjoyed the rise through the conference to League one and the FA Cup runs. I was always concerned about the real ownership of the club - by Paul Hayward - and made my feelings known to the club. I was at one point called a liar by the chief executive when I said I knew the real owner was Paul and knew of his dealings. I spoke to several people investigating his activities in Bangkok
I never bought into the Evans love in - the man is a convicted fraud. Like others I spoke to him and found him engaging and charming (I found Chas Majeed the same too) But that doesn't hide the fact that they were in fact utterly charmless. I was glad when Evans went - his departure proved my feelings about him were right (remember his mantra - Bruce is like a father to me, I want to be part of his legacy)
The truth is that (laughable Evans)legacy was one built on sand. False money that was never sustainable and an ownership that wasn't anywhere near as transparent as it should have been
And other things have come to light since those days that do not paint that era as a golden era of ownership - particularly the lies the Carters also wanted to spout in the aftermath of Bruce's passing

or looked at another way someone you regard so highly is prepared to publicly announce all the wrong doings referred to and do you really want the FA investigating the club? And yes I have opinions like yours Matt, uncle Tom Cobbly and all

When certain things came to light (that precipitated mine and two others' banning orders) I and others approached the club in order to get them to put their house in order first, before any sanction would befall our club. At that point a sanction would have taken the form of a points deduction and fine. I took that action with others (including the CTSA I should add, under whose governance I was acting) with the express intention of not letting us as a club get in to a position of FA investigation or sanction.
The fact remains that some things were addressed and some were not. Of the things that were not, their time has now passed and whilst the FA was aware, the fact that our then owner sold up and moved on meant that the FA would not progress their investigations. The FA preferred this route quite frankly because some of the things that came to light would not have painted a very pretty picture of the FA as much as CTFC.
Unlike you RRR I'm quite happy to put my head above the parapet and be counted. I've never hidden my identity or my involvement with the club. I've written extensively about what I've uncovered and I've been personally sanctioned for it by previous owners and CEO's of the club alike. I'll happily meet with anyone that wants to know more in a sensible face to face discussion if they so wish.
Or... You could just sit behind your keyboard and cast aspersions on other people's character without ever having to stand by what you type.

RRR I think you should take up Matt's offer to learn more about what went on back in the day, at least this way the matter can be put to bed as it were
Mat - I would be interested in learning more about what happened as and when you have the time drop me a PM and I will give you my name and number

Evans was a dodgy fella in his footy dealings, lets not forget that the FA enquiry - separate to the criminal one - into events at Boston, found him involved in witness tampering & intimidation...
...but some of his personal activities were not too savoury either, he certainly did not deserve that dog collar..!

um but this is a forum so hence we have numerous users contributing in the way all forums alike are conducted. If you dont like that why not just leave. Your opinions are no more authentic than anyone elses. Or do you think theres some sorta hierachy of opinion and some input is invalid? Perhaps equality is indifferent if you disagree. I value all input equally but also that its all opinion and thats the basis of the forum an exchange and discussion of opinion.
As for charracter aspersions Im doing nothing but applauding the superb way Steve Evans conducted his superbly successful record at the club. I would welcome him back without any hesitation. Im not interested whats under your covers uncovering whatever and like many other fans its whether the teams winning playing well entertaining scoring goals and so on matters not whether the club uses p g tips or red label tea bags and if the club bought multi packs of wine gums to sell thdm on in a naughty single tube.
