Evans was a dodgy fella in his footy dealings, lets not forget that the FA enquiry - separate to the criminal one - into events at Boston, found him involved in witness tampering & intimidation...
...but some of his personal activities were not too savoury either, he certainly did not deserve that dog collar..!
Are you refering to SE bark? Anyway whether he is barking mad or has a healthy appetite or enjoyed a good knees up at the Tea party in Boston, like many fans Im interested in what he brought for the football manager role and his achievements speak for themselves. Whether he likes eating apple or mince pies really isnt of much interest to me.

BW told me that his main task was to ensure SE "kept the back-page sports writers busy, not the front-page headline writers".
SE joined us having got Boston sent straight down from L2 - which arguably they not entered by legitimate means - relegated by 2 divisions & was fairly average as our manager until he got handed a king size budget.
He then undeniably seized the chance. However i still feel he was better at getting them in cheap & selling them on expensively, rather than his actual big money buys, where his track record was not so impressive.

even on that basis alone he was a huge success. One possibly the best thing that ever happened to the club. Without him and Raynor we woodnt be a football league club.

Debatable, FV got a part-time team to a very respectable Conference finish with nothing to spend.
Evans was a good horse trader but only ever a good manager when the money was there.
A genuinely wonderful man with the best intentions of the club at heart who was badly let down by the people who carried out the due diligence on his behalf with regard to overseas investment.
That same overseas investment (aided and abetted by the Carters and Pottinger) that royally shafted his widow in to handing over her shares in the club.
As for charracter aspersions Im doing nothing but applauding the superb way Steve Evans conducted his superbly successful record at the club. I would welcome him back without any hesitation. Im not interested whats under your covers uncovering whatever and like many other fans its whether the teams winning playing well entertaining scoring goals and so on matters not whether the club uses p g tips or red label tea bags and if the club bought multi packs of wine gums to sell thdm on in a naughty single tube.
And there's the problem. If nobody cares about the dodgy dealings behind the scenes (and we're talking a hell of a lot bigger than multipack reselling here, but nice attempt at a diversion) then don't come running when your club goes in to administration, gets relegated because of a points deduction or ceases to exist.
The CTSA is there (and always has been in some shape or form as a support's trust) to act as a check and balance to the club's activities. If you lose that you run a very real risk of losing your club.
RRR I think you should take up Matt's offer to learn more about what went on back in the day, at least this way the matter can be put to bed as it were
Mat - I would be interested in learning more about what happened as and when you have the time drop me a PM and I will give you my name and number
regardles of who knows what think he she knows say doesnt say cant be arsenal'd to say, the opinions of Mat pat kat or any other person you me uncle tom cobbly and all have equal status of opportunity and attempts to silence personal insult and alike do nothing but steer away from the purpose of the forum and open freely expressed opinion.
But there's a big difference between simple opinion and demonstrable fact.
I agree that all opinions are equally valid. But I give a lot more relevance to people who check the facts before forming an opinion than simply putting the blinkers on and hoping for the best.

Stop leading him on Thad...
Sorry Mat, you are right, some people are just like a dog with a bone, lapping it up...!

Matt not for the first time you and others like to brandish these ridiculous claims and throw around false statements.
We shafted Silpa ?
I offered to take Silpa shares after Bruce had passed and she would have had the opportunity to the back ALL the money Bruce had invested into the club (A couple of hundred thousand from memory less than the Carter’s had invested).
Silpa refused. Later on I made Silpa another offer because I was concerned financially the club would be a burden and against the advice of the club and the Carter’s she rejected the second offer and decided to stay in and accept cash calls as the football clubs lose money.
Silpa believed the club could be sold for millions if we reached the championship and felt by selling her shares to me at that point she would lose out on the chance to make money. Which is fair enough. That was a business decision she took.
Later on the football club was put up for sale (While in League One) and at that point I wanted to move my shares on and Silpa wasn’t able to continue with the cash calls so passed her shares back to me after there was no buyers.
It was I who was then burdened with the extra monies needed that was supposed to come from Silpa side.
This isn’t the first time you have said these sort of things and You should check the facts with me first before you spout off this type of nonsense.
As for your claims about people doing letting Bruce down on the due diligence. He used one of the largest accounting firms in the World and our organization passed with flying colors.
Micky also voluntarily took the Fit and proper persons test while we was in the conference and the FA knew I was one of the Backers because Bruce told them and didn’t require an additional check because I wasn’t a director of the beneficiary company.
I later took a fit and proper persons test which I passed. NOT at the request of the Football powers that be (which I spoke to more than once) but at the Request of the CTSA.
I personally spoke to the You about all this as we spoke on the phone about it in length.
I’m not gonna get into a tennis match with you over this because We both have got better things to do.
The one common ground we all have is we love the club so let’s focus on that eh.
