I think you will probably find that HK told Salem who he wanted and he went out and signed him up.
Selim? As Director of football there is also a good chance that Selim identifies and completes the transfers. By definition that’s his role. I very much doubt HK would for example ring Selim up and say “hey Selim, I fancy us signing the Bradford reserve striker Poleon. Never seen him play but think he’s perfect for us”. HK left shortly into the season, if he was given free reign to sign who he wanted I’ve got a hunch he would have stayed. I think we all know who is signing the players. Would Cioffi have signed German and Meite? No he’s probably never seen them play!
Right, so you have some inside knowledge that is not available to us ordinary punters... go on, spill the beans.
As for "engine room"... You really think i am suggesting he should be running box-2-box...? It must be pretty obvious, even to you, that def-mid is what is usually known as the "holding", "shielding" or even - wait for it - "sitting" role.
No wonder Tigers are in danger of extinction...!
Ps. HK signed him, as a CB, by following your argument, doesn't that make him a wally...?
Who said HK signed him? Selim talks about the signings he has made but I cannot remember the headline “Harry kewell signs Vincelot”. Crawley Town FC signed him unless you have some insider knowledge. I don’t want to keep stating the obvious, but yes a midfielder really should be running box to box. Dannie Bulman is doing it at 40 so why drop him for someone that cannot do that?
Well actually, read the interview with Bulman in the programme and by his own admission he’s not a box-to-box midfielder anymore.

Im amazed how well DB has performed he probably cant play every match but he has exceeded my expectations.
Thing is JB, early this season when Vincelot was playing CB, Dannie struggled to even get into the starting XI, it was never a case of dropping him Mr. Tiger, as he was rarely playing. If you recall, the preferred midfield choices were Morais, Payne & Randall.
But lets see it through the Eye of the Tiger... basically:
- RV was forced on both managers, who were also instructed that they had to play him at CB & never anywhere else.
- Senior players looking to prolong their careers move to CB for an easy life.
- All midfielders need to be heads down, no nonsense, full tilt, up & at em... no slacking in a "sitting" role there Sergio Busquets, we can see you.
Blimey, it is good that someone out there has the inside view...!
Thing is Mr Thad I’ve seen RV play a few times over the years and I was thrilled when we signed him. I thought he was exactly the centre mid we needed. I was calling out every game to play him in midfield especially with Randall in there ahead of him! So at this point you and I are in the stands shouting in agreement. Apart from how bad his performances at the back were the thing I’ll remember is RV hobbling around the side of the pitch with the physio after yet another injury. Our difference in opinion is that you think Bradford, HK and Cioffi are all wally’s and can’t understand why they cannot see what you and I and everyone else in the stands can see so clearly. Whereas I’m sat here thinking well here we have a midfielder on a big wage with higher league experience and the paid coaches that work with everyday are not playing him his natural position, maybe just maybe there are other factors. Maybe Mother nature has caught up with him and he cannot get around the pitch anymore, won’t be the last 33 year old that’s happened to (statistically proven that midfielders cover more ground than centre backs). Anyway he has now left and gone on to play 55 minutes in midfield before getting injured (injuries are very likely when the body declines).
Anyways, maybe you are correct and it really was that simple that the fools couldn’t see the obvious. I for one think there is a chance other factors come into play but we will never know. Fingers crossed for RV that he makes a good recovery and I’ll be happy if he makes a successful return to midfield.
Maybe it’s time we all move on from the Vincelot obsession. He’s gone! I say good job we got rid and off the wage bill and great to see DB covering every blade of grass on Saturday. If that wasn’t box to box midfield play then I really am clueless!
I agree that he never looked fully fit, but hey- ho... lets match him up at the back in a physical battle against a forward who is 8 inches taller & 4 stone heavier..!
I could post a lot of similar, but if the point has not been grasped by now, it never will be.
The thing is that we BOTH (Terrace experts) felt that his skill-set suited a change of position, he might have been absolute sh1te there, but - by any standard - it has to be less risky than playing him at CB... And I cannot understand why that point can ever be disputed (?). Academic now, as some Wally bottled even trying it once.
As for DB, during most of RVs tenure, he was missing out to Morais, Payne & Randall, wonder which WALLY made that decision...?
Seriously man get a grip and stop trying to kid yourself that you know more about football than GC. Whether he is the right man to lead Crawley remains to be seen but it’s getting a bit embarrassing if it’s not a wind up. If you are just bored or lonely there are people out there that can help you and will listen.

Remind me, is that the same GC, who - according to you - does not get to make his own decisions...?
You are bloomin hilarious...!
Compare our posts... I am simply applying universal football wisdom about the best position for a player you have doubts about, but you do not accept my view, as you apparently deny the existence of midfielders in a holding role...(?)
Hey-ho, if you wish to persist in looking foolish, then i am happy to assist the process, no need to thank me.
