Realistically I wasn't expecting anything from today but the season is petering out badly. Fortunately I can't see the bottom 2 catching up now.
We really have made a pig's ear of it with our top 10 budget haven't we. Vincelot gone, Morais nowhere to be seen, Palmer and Poleon taking the piss out of the club online, two forwards signed in the window that aren't fit to play...what a mess.
Sorry to say it looks like another summer where a major clear out will be needed. There is no way we will contend with this lot, and I'm suspect there is no way we will contend with the management off the field either.
Still it's only 7.45 so we still need to await Stephen's post match report on how fantastic it all is and what a great job Gabriele Cioffi is doing at Crawley Town.
Just got back from the game...firstly what a brilliant stadium it is just a shame the 6500+ fans who were there made it look empty...
Take away the most idiotic goal of the season we did not deserve to lose that game. The whole team played to the game plan and put in 100 % effort. If we can get Mr Palmer to show the form of earlier in the season we could make a push for the top 10. At times we play some lovely football and work really hard to get the ball back when out of possession.
Finally what a great appointment Craig Brewster is. A man of real experience at this level of football and a really nice guy too. Well done the board for appointing him..

Having now watched MK's goal on telly it is even more of a disgrace
For Bulman to literally duck out of the way with their forward bearing down on him at speed is beyond criminal. Whoever's decision it was (his or a call from Morris) needs a metaphorical flogging, or maybe even a real one
I was half hoping that MK would get another goal to take the sharp focus off this stupidity
It is tough losing a game, but it's one thing losing to a (much) better team - as we did at home to MK - but to be the masters of our own distruction in an otherwise even game is something else altogether 😡😡😡😡

Indeed it is Stephen. A welcome and let's be honest a much needed addition to our coaching team.
But where does it leave your support for GC? Having lost your voice at the forum (when the rest of us spoke up - just as you suggested) he is surely counting on you to keep your end up on the forum?
I'm wondering if the key selection factors boiled down to age & pace, against a team we expected to have a lot of possession...?
Looking at the starting XI, i would second guess - not always an easy or scientific task - that it was designed for the quick break, six defensive minded players, three energetic youthful runners, behind a big centre forward.
By all reports it almost worked too. Of course, it had to be the - normally excellent - two old chaps involved in the crucial mix-up...!
Great performance from the boys yesterday, gutting that one mistake cost us the match. A draw would have been a fair result. MK Dons were probably the best team I've seen at Crawley this season, so for us to go there and match (if not better them for periods) was an achievement. Poleon should definitely remain out of the first 11 and Grego-Cox looked lively in a rare start.
When was the last time Palmer scored, seems like forever? Missed a great chance in the second half. Unfortunately I don't think we have anyone who could adequately replace him at this time. Hopefully the Southend deal was agreed in January because his price is surely dropping.

No shock at all that MK won, a pleasant surprise that it was so close though and that the other strugglers failed to get much closer to us
I'm sure it's being covered elsewhere on this forum but what the hell are the club doing? We are in 18th place and are still in desperate relegation trouble, I don't care what other people might think about the 'impossibility' of us going down all it needs is for Notts County and Macclesfield to go on winning runs and we are in it up to our collective necks, what do the club do? leave Vincelot on the bench and then sell him, even better we now don't need the services of either Morais or Gambin, not a bad decision if you cannot be relegated and are a strong enough team to try out youngsters, but Crawley are not in that position and we're carrying two players who don't want to be at the club, if anyone is left out of the matchday squad it should be Palmer and Poleon, since the Tranmere fixture on 27th October Palmer has scored 2 league goals and one of those was a penalty, with 2 goals in 13 matches he could be replaced by someone like German and it wouldn't make the slightest difference to the results
I'm getting regular visions of Selim telling us how the club is going to win the National League next season with Morris on the bench and Mersin in goal
I think we will stay up but not with any comfort. Looking forward to backofthenet's weekly survival table. I think safety will be around 44 points or less this season.

I think desperate relegation trouble is stretching it a bit, I can't see the bottom two making up 9 points on Crawley in 11 games. It isn't great, but I can't see relegation is likely.

Good point, well made TML... However, please indulge me in an alternative perspective.
Mabye Ciofi saw the match as a free hit... a chance to try a bit of experimentation in an away match at MK, that we are unlikely to win in any case...(?)
just wondering if Morais is trying to engineer a get out the same as Vincelot. He came as a supposed big signing with a long contract HK was the figurehead with the owner talking of taking the club into the championship and I would put Palmer in the sameboat.I think Notts county who are in ownership problems and Macclesfield who were unable to pay their players their full wages this week are in a much worse place than us at the foot off the division.Thad has a point as when the "youngsters" came on against Macclesfield they injected a drive and energy which I think changed the game and won us a valuable point.

I hope your right, wasn't it last season though that Newport were dead, buried and guaranteed National League members?

Just saying...!
Perfectly possible thad, but IMHO we're in a pretty dodgy position for experimentation, my personal choice would be a settled, best available team until it's impossible to be relegated
Notts county at this point are in my opinion past the point of no return. Especially if they go bust. The teams below us however whilst poor have given us some hard fixtures if Macclesfield don’t win their next few games we’re pretty much guaranteed safety as There’s still a few teams below us. Just can’t drop points at home.
