Here is the Chelsea XI squad that is coming to Crawley on Saturday.
Goalkeepers: Jamal Blackman Mitchell Beeney
Defenders: Tomas Kalas Michael Hector Fikayo Tomori Jake Clarke Salter Kenneth Omeruo Cole Dasilva
Midfielders:Kyle Scott Mukhtar Ali Isaac Christie Davies Ruben Sammut
Forwards: Jeremie Boga Charlie Wakefield Ike Ugbo Islam Feruz
A return to Broadfield for Mitchell Beeney, having played one league game for us last season, and a few in the EFL trophy. Blackman is definitely someone who will be snapped up by a club of our level. He had a very decent season at Wycombe. Maybe he'll like the place and want to come on loan.
With these PL clubs now going for global domination we are back to our Town Meadow and early Broadfield days of having to put up with the kids teams (maybe aside from the "carrier bags" who I assume are repaying us for letting them use our ground, even though they have done bugger all else to help)from PL clubs again (I seem to remember once we beat a Chelsea XI 6-1?). Would be nice if we could beat them to show the Chelsea supporting majority of locals in the crowd that there local team are ok as well! Maybe this will be a forerunner of our opening day league game in a few years time when we play Chelsea reserves in Lge 2? If it is I will either be dead or watching that paint dry as somebody above has said!
Kalas has plenty of league experience and Hector has been about a bit (including Horsham). Plus as mentioned above Jamal Blackman is a promising keeper.
However if Beeney is an indication of the others we should win really.

If you are refering to Brightons U21 team playing some matches at the Broadfield then we did in fact recieve a fee for this,as do the other teams whose ground they use. The usual friendlies do get a bit tedious though i agree, maybe a short tour in northern europe next year for a change.

Should hope we do receive a substantial fee as all we are doing is showcasing a team who are competing with us for local support. They also seem to loan players out consistently everywhere (but to us to any extent). And also the "carrier bags" treated us supporters very poorly at the SSC Final so they owe us one (at least). Some competitive matches against Conference sides would be better I would think, but obviously money needs to be made and which other game could we lay on where the local PL "sheep" outnumber the local Crawley fans?
i think the club have gone for friendlies to max travel support . i expect Brighton and Portsmouth will both bring 1500 supporter which is probably as good as it gets for pee season away travel. Espically as the days of first choice squads from premier league and even championship teams are unrealistic.

If the days of first choice Championship squads are also a thing of the past then our football is in a worse state than I thought!

Boga was playing in La Liga last season (under Tony Adams no less towards the end) and Omeruo is a Nigeria international.
Feruz was one I thought we might make a loan move for under Drummy as he had a great record in their youth teams, but he's apparently been sent on loan six times and been sent back early each time.
Does anyone know if any players of these Chelsea, Arsenal, Tottenham etc youth squads that have visited us over the years ever actually gone on to get anywhere big? There must be some surely.

Kalas was outstanding in the Championship last season, indeed, there is still hope he'll back there this season 😉

Kieran Gibbs played against us for an Arsenal XI in the summer of 2008. This was at the start of his senior career. In 2010 we played Arsenal XI and drew 2-2. They had Mark Randall in their team, and Rhys Murphy.

I'd be very surprised if Pompey brought that many down given how recently they have visited for a competitive fixture.
