I think it is a good match-up, he will have his moments with Scally, it will get feisty on occasions... but they are actually very similar in outlook & approach.
Both are prepared to take a gamble & neither are too sensitive to the opinions of others.

Good match or complete disaster as Evans likes to spend and Gillingham not the richest or well supported L1 club. I’ve personally always thought the opposite that Scally is very sensitive and in fact has just threatened to quit if fans give him any abuse next season.

It will end in tears... but IMHO Evans is actually at his best (& arguably dodgiest) when he is horse trading & not being handed bundles of cash to waste on the likes of Willie Gibson.

He is currently knocking on the front doors of complaining fan's, offering to refund their money... Showboating as usual... Anyone who is genuinely bothered about their opinions, is never likely to have lasted almost a quarter of a century as Gills Chairman...!

The guy has lost the plot! Does anyone really believe him that he has linked supporters social media names etc to their home address or even work addresses and personally gone to visit them? I find it very far fetched and shows how needy he really is!
When Evans 1st arrived here, there were similar "front door" tales recounted to me, from Boston United supporters. Scally is definitely no angel... and hasn't been for a long while...
I think they will be very happy together... until it suddenly falls apart...!

It’s all a load of BS my friend. In under a week Scally releases an announcement threatening to quit if he gets any abuse online or at games and in the same statement announces they have appointed the most unpopular guy in football which he knows will anger a large proportion of the fan base. Then Evans is unveiled and Scally says he has spent nearly every afternoon and evening going round to fans houses and workplaces offering fans refunds if they are not happy with the appointment. Next comes the article in the local rag from lifelong fan explaining how Scally has convinced him to give Evans a chance and others should do the same (I bet said fan won’t be paying for his season ticket in foreseeable future). Call me an old cynic but I don’t believe it’s anything other PR and to stop others speaking out against him and Evans and I would have thought he had more important things to work on. If it is true than fair play as some of the abuse dished out by fans at games and online is disgusting and I bet none of them would be so brave face to face.
Of course it is a stunt... and he is showboating... alongside Evans we are in for a great comedy double act... Hey-ho... But i'm not the one who ever thought that he had any actual sensitivity to other peoples opinions...(?)
Blimey, after almost a quarter century in post, during which there were many controversial incidents & having just appointed Evans as manager... It would be a bloomin funny time to suddenly start to worry about his popularity status...!
Fair-do's though, it is a bit more original than just boringly banning fans who express opinions or raise valid questions, which invariably creates more problems than it solves.
