Crawley Observer reporting a £500k offer from a Championship club for ANG and that the deal to sign the midfielder mentioned yesterday is expected to go through tomorrow
id bite their hand off for half a million we should be able to get half decent player for that! Not that I expect it will be ploughed back into the squad.
If ANG is subject to a bid by a championship club we can hardly stand in his way. League 2 club then fair enough. You ain't going nowhere son but not a championship side.
As long as it's a decent offer we should let him go and bang a sell on clause on the agreement.

Exactly what Jim said
With the quite obvious financial trouble that football in general is in there is no way that a League 2 club with a 2000 attendance could or should reject an offer of that magnitude, the existence of small clubs will depend more and more on unearthing players like ANG, putting them in the shop window and then cashing in on them so that more good players can follow them
In answer to the normal complaint, if the owner wishes to recoup some of the cash they have put up then that is their right
Sell, sell, sell. He has shown flashes of talent, but we have to remember he was sub for most of the season so I feel half mill is very generous offer at this stage of his development. As said, cash in with decent sell on add ons.
As much as I like ANG, Sesay, RGC & love Pooch, I believe that the owners have always been quite open that a key aspect of their strategy was to sign, develop & sell on young prospects...
...be churlish of me to start to whine now, about a policy that appears to be bearing fruit...!
Players like ANG are the future of this club we should resist all temptation to sell by all means let aPoleon and Palmer go instead
While I agree fully with your sentiments the sad truth is that selling players like ANG is the future of this and most other clubs, as for P&P there's the small matter of finding someone who wants to buy them, Southend now have a different manager to the one who was in charge when the Palmer to sunny Essex rumours started just as WBA have a different manager to when they were reported to be after Sesay, financial survival is all about taking whatever chances arise, assuming they are actually real chances and not just media bluster of course

I completely understand the owners strategy, and the reasons for it. Its a fact of life for a club at our lowly level. But i'm not sure how it fits in with their stated aim of 'the Championship in 8 years'. Two promotions is definitely not going to happen if we keep selling our best players. With our current owners, treading water in L2 is the best we can hope for. And that's not a criticism, just a reality check.
