Barkley too, he was sloppy all night. Although no-one really stood out.
Bit of a horror show from two teams who simply looked jaded after a long hard season...
...unfortunately Lingard was offside (just, by the toe of his boot) & in the end the best team - or at least the one who managed their possession better - eventually won...!
Ps. Amazing that a dozen years after looking abysmal for Liverpool, Ryan Babel is still being picked to play for the Dutch national team.
Genuine question: If a forward is marginally ahead of the last outfield defender, but that defender (lets call him Tony Adams) has his trailing arm raised to signal offside to the officials...
...could a VAR review decide that the forward is being played onside - despite the defender not being able to play the ball with his arm or hands - by the defender's fingernails ...?

this is where VAR is ruining the game. Goalline over the line or not maybe ok but offside corner goslkick pen throw ins where does it stop?

The English FA are obsessed with playing the ball out from the back obviously no Wombles fans in the FA. Time to review this after the fiasco against a poor Dutch side?

Imagine that, defenders trimming their fingernails and attackers trimming their toenails before every game. They all stop wearing gloves as well.
How John Stones keeps getting selected by England is beyond me. And the mistakes by him and Barkley can hardly be down to tiredness as they hardly played in the last couple of months of the season.
Sorry to say that whilst (like the WC) a favourable draw helped us to the semis I can't help thinking any decent side would turn us over quite easily.

I don't see how that could happen as it's reviewed by a human as well as a computer.

Well he played for a decent side over the last 5 months you see😉

I can at the very least agree that they are a side with a noble tradition of delaying the retirement of quality players with positive results... ...of course Moore, Marsh, Best & even the horrible Mullery... but i can also recall being bedazzled by the wing play of a certain under-achieving fella called Marinello, a good decade after he arrived in Lomdon to great acclaim.

think thats a first ive heard crowd (England fans) chant "VAR VAR" for a potential penalty appeal! Who wouldve thought that would become a football chant. (England v Swiss)
