I appreciate they are at a much higher level than us, but we should be playing our strongest team and looking to put in a good performance in what is a showcase friendly to try and attract local people in Sussex to come to our games more often. Yes it's only a friendly, but it was also an opportunity for the club to show itself in it's best light.
Yeah everyone feels the same, play our strongest team against a Premier league team is a no brainer, what the hell did HK learn from that. But if you look at the team we put out and then feel embarrassed or surprised that we conceded six, well you shouldn't be shocked at all. It was a great effort from the team that played. Well done.
Arrived at 2.45pm, a bit later than intended. Saw the queue (estimated 30 mins in the pouring rain) and went home again.
Will the club ever stop scoring own goals?
Why wasn't the ticket cabin open? Why wasn't there a pile of pre-printed terrace tickets to speed up transactions?
Why can't you buy pre-printed terrace tickets at the bar while buying a pint?
Why did they run out of cans of Diet Coke last week? It was the first game of the season ffs! Any cans that didn't sell last weekend would have sold before the end of the season.
Just think, if they had the right amount of people manning a slicker ticket sales operation, a large amount of the people in the crazy queue would've been in Redz, putting more money into the club.
Shape up Crawley Town.
Running out of Diet Coke? Is that seriously a complaint? With all the stuff the owners and club are doing at the moment, and someone is calling not being able to buy a Diet Coke in a PSF an 'own goal'... they must wonder why they bother.
It is yet another indication that the club doesn't know it's arse from it's elbow and couldn't organise a urine up in a brewery Loyal fans strolling away from a game with an indifferent shrug spells doom for the Club... there's very limited replacements bringing up the rear
But that was also my point I saw what you said and it obviously wasnt just you, and I have on occasions had to do that myself but if I do I might also expect not to get in on time. There must have been many who came after 2pm without tickets when they must realise with all the sheep supporting Brighton in the local area that it was going to be extremely busy?
Isn't that the point that Alun is making Mick.... shouldn't the club also have anticipated that it was going to be extremely busy? IMHO it is not unreasonable for people turning up after 2pm without tickets to expect to queue for a period of time, but anything over ten minutes seems excessive.
Maybe but it also depends on how many. It sounds as though very large numbers were turning up late without a ticket and suspect lots of Brighton fans in our area of seating as well (as where Chelsea). It all sounds much like the fiasco of trying to get pre match refreshments at Falmer on SSC Final day, so we are not alone in being tin pot?

That's what's embarrassing, playing a weakened team against a Premier League gives you the impression that we'd conceded deafeat before we even started.
We lost 3-0 against their development squad in the Sussex Senior cup final, so why did we think it would be a good idea to put out a weakened team against their full side?
If we'd have played our strongest team we may only have lost 2 or 3-0 and the club looks more respectable.

I'm not going to argue with you about being equal first in a tinpot contest... but I simply don't accept your view that the onus is solely on the paying customers to get there in plenty of time and expect to stand in the rain for thirty minutes.

Yeah I know what you mean if we had played stoengest team and lost by a few goals it would have looked alot better. I'm looking at it more positively, we had Garnett playing, no Connelly. No Young (who I like, although I know others dont). Today seemed like it was HK giving some of the players their final chance. I really think it could and should have been alot worse given the team we put out so credit is due in some areas.

The Diet Coke incident is simply indicative of how poorly organised it is.
If they'd run out of a perishable I'd be inclined to forgive. But running out of a bar staple when there are at least 25 opportunities to shift them if you overbaked it in week one is inexcusable.
Too many on here are club apologists. I want the club to succeed, but being incapable of meeting customer requirements will ensure this won't happen and is frankly pathetic.
I didn't bother going to this, after leaving bored senseless at half time last week against Chelseas kids I just couldn't be arsed to do if all again. From what little I've read on this thread about the match today the most puzzling aspect is the team selection. Why our strongest team didnt play for the full 90 minutes suggests we dont have one.It looks like we have lots of players at a similar level and the manager hasn't a clue which one is better then the next.HK needs to get a move on and stick with the team that will start against Port Vale.It looks like we're in a mess with just a couple of weeks left till Port Vale.
As for the queues,is anyone really that supprised the club cant get to grips with a half filled stadium.!!!!!!!!

I didnt mean to suggest the onus was all on the paying customer, just surprised that so many seemed surprised that getting there after 2pm was a good idea bearing in mind the pre match announcements of Brighton selling their seats and also the awful forecast and weather all morning. Sounds like there will be several candidates to go along to the fan engagement coffee morning with plenty of points to bring up. While there can they also ask Kelly why her head coach saw fit to treat a significant chance for some positive PR as a run out for some of the many deadwood players in his squad?

It wasnt only Garnett there were seven or eight who might struggle to be termed 1st team and this in the one game were we could have created a bit of positive Sussex wide PR with a strong performance. It seems HK also shared our view of a crap display blaming individual errors, but if he had asked those of us from last season we could have told him that a large number in that squad are not good enough?
Very confusing team selection. Mr Kewells comment that all we need to do is fit out silly mistakes is the understatement of the year. If any of that team make the starting eleven for Port Vale I will be very surprise. Even Morris had a shocker..
