Young is an exceptional outstanding long serving fully and I mean that he gives absolutely, a 100% player. Very dissapointing that he was red carded. Unsure why but being unavailable for selection we will miss him for sure. Its early days and on the positive side we scored and are off the mark on that front. Lets make sure we get all points next Saturday. Nothing is impossible this season. As fans all we can do is get behind the team and cheer them on. I look forward to next Saturday.

I have to say we were awful today. Totally clueless upfront and seemed to lack a lot of desire and urgency. Carlise were pretty shocking also but had couple of creative players. GScoring goals will be a massive problem this year. Palmer was a total waste of space.
I think I disagree with pretty much every word of this.
We had several good chances, their keeper pulled off a couple of great saves to keep them in the game and we pretty much dominated the game, except for a couple if short spells.
We could have been sharper in front of goal but I will fall back on the old cliche that we will play worse than this and win.
Carlisle were awful, apart from Thomas, until he tried and their number 11.
I was chatting to some Carlisle fans after the game and said that nobody could have complained if it was a draw. They said that they couldn't have complained if we had won.
I wouldn't give Morris MoM - he only had one (outstanding) save to make - they only had three shots on target.
Dallison was solid at the back, Lewis struggled to contain Thomas, Sesay had a good, if unspectacular game but Tunicliffe was not convincing. He was hesitant and a half second off the pace.
Reese made a huge difference when he came on and carried some menace, Bez had a great debut before he tried and scored a good goal. Nathan Ferguson was solid but a little slow, although he grew into the game and Nathan Bloomfield looked good when he came on.
Ollie? Well, what can you say? A mile off the pace, didn't try if the ball wasn't hit straight to him and struggled against a shorter centre half. Poor game from him.
My MoM was Panuche - as we expect, a non-stop, high energy, high tempo game and he was everywhere.
To my mind Lewis' sending off was all down to frustration. A few minutes earlier their number 25 nearly scythed him in two and caught him in the stomach - he was only booked for what looked to us a dead cert red.
Great support as always from low numbers but we gave it our all - and so did the team.

Good to hear. But hope we get better in both boxes soon
Personally thought we were very poor. Passing was pretty awful and the crossing was dreadful, 12 corners and I can't remember us winning any. No wonder palmer played poorly when all he had to work with was balls flying over his head, and even when he did knock it on there was nobody there to run onto it. Bloomfield also wasn't much better as he also had poor service. Morais had a poor game and always looks better at left wing but with him ANG and Lubala all fighting for that position I suppose he will have to fit in elsewhere. Camara gave the ball away too frequently but ran his socks off as usual. RGC did well when he came on and should start, bulman unfortunate to be subbed but I suppose we were after a bit more flair. All in all we never really looked like scoring, however we had a lot of the ball so if we can somehow find a way to create a few more chances we could well have a half decent season.

This could have been copied and pasted from last season.

I think I disagree with pretty much all of this! Panutche had his worst game ( and I am a huge fan of his) I am not sure he found a Crawley player with a single pass and was too much of a loose cannon in midfield even though as usual he put in the effort. Morais is lost wide right, Ferguson not bad but needed a solid player (like Bulman) in there with him. Lubala looked a good prospect and a good strong effort for his goal, something sadly lacking throughout most of our attacking play and not just from Palmer. I even saw somebody blame him for one of their goals??!!!!! Getting a bit tiresome the heckling of Palmer when most of our service to him is aimless crap (note he laid the ball back well in the build up to our goal, one of the few times the ball was played anywhere near him). I made a point of looking for the running of Bloomfield, ANG and to an extent Cox when we didn't have the ball and they were like Palmer in not wasting effort chasing lost causes. None of them are all action chasers of the ball (or anything) like Panutche but I realise Palmer is now the preferred target for cheap heckling. Another problem apart from so many poor final balls was our crossing with at least 90% either in the keepers arms, over the top or just floated gently in for their big centre backs to pound away. I think the no.7 who caused us so much problem is the same one who tore us apart in April, do we not pick up on these things. Mind you it didn't help having a right back (Young) at left back and it cost us one goal and nearly more than that. Apart from a couple of relatively straightforward saves their keeper wasn't really tested hugely apart from hoovering up our poor corners. Young sending off was really soft, with him fouling a player and going over and patting his head or shoulder to apologise, the guy then leapt to his feet and squared up to Young who admittedly did move his head forward but "violent conduct". As you say he was almost cut in half just before that with a very poor tackle. Personally would have left the steadying influence of Bulman on a removed one of Camara, Ferguson or Morais but not until a bit later. All in all not disastrous but nowhere near as good as Cioffi made out, as illustrated by our increasingly muted fans as the game went on. We are much to tame going forward and it certainly isn't all down to Palmer. I also see Meite has gone on loan, one of the best examples of strong pacy forward play was watching him away at Accrington a couple of seasons ago, just wish he had been given more of a chance.

Well, there we are Mick. Same game but different views, or mindset. That's football for you.

Different views same result as April and very little threat from us, pretty pretty at times spoilt by poor final pass or an aimless cross.
Ok i know its hard to judge psf and I wasnt at Carlisle but I find it hard to see we were as poor as some reports here tend to suggest. Against Swansea and Brighton we gave them both a game and they had to work hard to beat us. Its very very early days. Anything is possible this season. COYR.
Interesting exchange of views, part of the issue with assessing opening day performances is that you don't really know at this point how good or bad the opposition are...(?)

I guess we’ll see when we play salford😂
One of the few occasions where the neutrals will be behind us & likely the longest away trip in the history of moneybags Salford... as you say, a better yardstick for assessing expectations.
