Apparently some players have warned Kewell the expansive style he is encouraging playing out from the back will get them murdered in league two football.
I think we proved it more than enough times last season that playing out from the back doesn't work with the players we've got. We've kept the majority of the squad so the same result will happen again if Kewell is naive enough to try it again. Hopefully, he'll prove us wrong, but I very much doubt it. Hopefully he can learn fast!
To be fair I think a lot of this emphasis on expansive, "attractive" football might be coming from the owners, possibly based on the mass of comments from supporters saying they were packing it in after the poor football of the Yates era.
Last season we played out from the back and it was hardly entertaining, especially at home where teams sat back and waited for the mistakes due to us not having the personnel to keep possession under pressure. The last game of the season (2nd half mainly) was one of the most entertaining of the season and that wasn't due to tippy tappy football, it was more about the desire to go and get a goal. Until we are prepared or in a position to spend a lot of money bringing the right players then trying to play an expansive game could see us in a spot of bother. Considering the striker options this season a direct style, attacking with pace, wingers attacking full backs, crosses and shots, defenders that can win headers and clear their lines and midfielders that will work their socks off is what the doctor ordered.
The best managers are constantly learning and adapting to the challenges. HK will make a lot of mistakes, he is after all a young manager making the transition from top player to manager.. Lets judge him at the end of the season.

can you evidence this source or is it an unsubstantiated rumour? You are of course also correct uve already said if we continue we WIll be relegated.

too late to judge then, however im not suggesting we bring that forward before we even kick off just that leave judgenent too late and im completely convinced we would NEVER return after being relegated. What HK may be doing us giving duds like Arthur a chance to prove him wrong. Hopefully HK already knows roughly his Porky Vale line up.
If the owners are meddling with style of play we are all doomed!

As I said before it isnt whether we play "champagne football" or not it is/was our lack of ambition and purpose on the field and it was bloody boring for the last three seasons. DD was as guilty as others over that time in showing way too much respect to "bigger" teams and as a result we sat back and did nothing in some home games apart from pass it around at the back then pass it back to the keeper who lumped it forward resulting in loss of possession. And surely it isnt all just about passing out from the back or as a direct opposite getting your centre backs to lump the ball, it needs to be "horses for courses" as the saying goes. Despite some of the crap written about the Steve Evans style we played some superb passing football at times and others it was more direct although probably very little was playing it out right from the back but it was invariably exciting.
Let me take you back to our first Conference home match, Hereford were like Barcelona, they played us off the park and we barely touched the ball... but through sheer grit and determination we clung on and fluked a late equaliser... I'll settle for that attitude & spirit every week.. bet Hereford fans would too...!

We did seem absolutely dead set on passing out from the back on Saturday even though we kept getting caught out. Obviously in L2 we won't be playing teams as sharp at pressing as Brighton, but it's still a concern when we clearly don't have the players to do it, and especially if we don't have a Bulman or Smith in midfield to help them out.
I don't mind it as a general approach, but very much with the understanding that if the opposition are onto it and pressing us, we blam it long. We have after all got a Dutch garden shed up front who should be good enough to deal with long balls.

My best hope is we do a wimbledon long ball kick lumps outta opponents and scrap into league one. I cant see it though TV looks as scary as a caterpillar and barely moves any faster. Maybe he will turn into a butterfly and fly off back to the tulips. BJA all is forgiven!
