Great win, just sorry I wasn't able to attend. Hopefully though, Messrs North, Smith and Gas will refrain from baiting each other for the rest of this thread. #townteamtogether !!!
Tonight is what supporting a team like Crawley is all about you go through seasons of dross and some awful games. We have had sides in the last few years that are carried by a few individuals that have kept us in the league. Tonight was one of those days everyone put a shift in. We have a team now that has goals in 4 or 5 players and a bench that does not weaken the team when we get injuries. Could not pick MOM out of that, Great result hope we take momentum into Saturday.
Everyone played well but the goalkeeper was something else given his lack of experience. Two saves in first 5 minutes were brilliant. He then caught or punched everything like a veteran. No issues him going in goal for us in the league. A star.
There were a fair few empty seats which was surprising. Not sure what goes wrong with ticket sales but we seem to declare seating sold out with plenty still available.
Back four were immense tonight. I’ve given Doherty a lot of crap but he surprised me again and held his own tonight. Dallison and Tunnicliffe were unreal and got to every ball. Also another shoutout to another ‘fan favourite’ Ollie Palmer for putting in a great performance hope the strain isn’t too serious.
Well well well....oh ye of little faith....Thank you Erdem for sticking with Mr Cioffi who has now brought us one of the best victories ever to be seen at Crawley...Norwich were far the better team but we grafted and grafted as a team. Just one small quibble...was that Lewis Young on the bench.
Interesting that only ONE team put their subs through an intensive, rigorous training drill at the break...(?)
...we definitely look a lot fitter than last season, great to see Ollie channeling his inner Pooch, with non-stop running & chasing back too...
...Pooch deserves a lot of credit for his significant part in the build-up to our goal, but it was a proper team win with everyone doing well in a terrific night out for the locals...!
I may have been critical of both Luyamula and Josh Docherty in recent weeks - although I did later qualify my criticisms of Luyambula - but after last night I rescind all criticisms of both players - all sins forgiven.
I even turned to Sons FC Jr at one point in an excited and delirious state and said I thought Glenn was outstanding tonight - that's how good he was.
Is that the best match I have ever seen? Probably not but I am struggling to remember any better.
As far2jammy says - this is what following Crawley is all about.
We tried to pick our own man of the match afterwards and couldn't separate them. Special mention though to big Ollie who has been simply outstanding in the last three games.
