Well I saw the 2 home games he played for BH, it isn't hearsay that in my opinion he was useless. Taken off an hour into his debut and a sub after that.
I wasn't alone, after he left there was a slightly incautious comment in the match programme saying how poor some signings had been and then had "sorry Bri" in brackets.
Maybe he really has improved since then, personally I assumed he was on the bench because he counted as home grown and we would otherwise have 6 subs.
The stats say he played 6 games for them and even scored a goal. Maybe seeing just 2 of them isn’t really enough to judge his potential.
Remember we are taking about a then 17 year old. Give him a chance to develop both physically and football education wise
Maybe. Time will tell.
Indeed I forgot he scored in the Alan Turvey Trophy. As you probably know most teams play their stiffs (bit like the FLT).
This is probably the best argument for having a reserve side playing competitive football, regular football and match fitness.
I do think very young players we need to have a slightly different criteria of judging them than the usual signings. Realistically Galach was not bought to the club to have an impact in games straight away, but for us to spend a lot of time perhaps years patiently developing him.
We all know the club appear to have no youth structure albeit there has been talk of one in recent times. So having a few youngsters like Galach or Forrest is the sensible compromise. Given their age they won’t be costing the budget much, yet they be able to help us down the road. Or not. Same as all club youth trainees, it is hit or miss by its very nature.
I have no strong opinion of Galach, I think most fans would have seen him in the Spurs U21 game last season when he created some kind of positive impression
I agree - I have always said that I would rather give younger players a go rather than knackered ex pros or journeyman types (Milson, Vincelot, Poleon etc).
However in Galach case in the absence of regular competitive reserve football I would say he is in no mans land, not ready for first team (unless he has improved massively in 10 months) and no youth structure to fall back on so restricted to the occasional FLT or SSC outing. Unlike the likes of Ferguson, who is immediately challenging for a place. I can't see how that will really help his career.
