Terrible performance an absolute shocker. Who’s going to defend that performance? Colchester were first to every loose ball and bullied us all over the park with their aggression and intensity. We looked abject, devoid of ideas going forward, struggled to string more than a couple of passes together, players not on the same wave length, too many passengers in the team and a weak mentality.
A performance like that is hard to accept with what was at stake with a potentially massive game and a huge money spinner for the club. The players never looked like they believed they were going to get back in the game when we went behind.
The reality is that we’re a lower mid table team and not a very good one at that.
We were ok at 1-0 then all but Bulman went into their shells. Colchester were the far better team. This team will not take us to the next level. Not enough winners in this team. Me thinks a complete overhaul of the starting XI is required. Send Bloomfield back Bring back Smith & Payne in January. Start Francombe & Young at full backs If McNerney is fit he should start at CB
We were woeful tonight, arguably one of the biggest games the club has had since Old Trafford and we made Colchester look like world beaters. Only a few short weeks ago it was looking like we were finally going to have a half decent season with some decent football and a cup run or two, now we have reverted to type shipping goals and looking clueless. Good luck to Colchester, they and their fans deserved their win, I hope they get a big club in the next round, just such a shame it’s not us. Massive opportunity gone begging tonight, I’m genuinely worried about how the rest of the season will pan out now?

Yes we are desperately lacking in midfield. A 40 year old Bulman puts Ferguson to shame with his work ethic. We need another experienced midfielder or two. Young has been better than Sessay these last two games, just exposing how average Sessay is, Young isn’t a brilliant player, but I’d have him over Sessay any day. Doherty too is a weak link, clumsy in the challenge and clumsy on the ball, like a rabbit in the headlights at times. Again we have a more accomplished player in the squad in Francombe who can’t be any worse. A bit of a recurring theme that anyone over the age of 26 falls out with Cioffi...
Afters Saturdays diabolical performance, I'm giving this one a miss, could not even get rid of my ticket. On streaming the game i never realised how poor we really are, Basically this manager has no more idea than the average supporter, common sense says he has to go, the sooner the better.
So you didn’t go to our biggest ever match in the competition even though you had a ticket?😳 unbelievable🙄🤷♂️
On a different note whilst its understandable the Col U fans were pleased to win and the way they tore us apart the idiot that goaded Reds fans as part of the pitch invasion was lucky to avoid a right kicking in. Arguably the Stewards were a little slow to respond as he made his way towards the Bruce Winfield Stand. Many Crawley fans can be proud of their restraint and the announcement to clear the pitch to avoid a club fine - if that happens I hope the club look at the away fans that swarmed into the pitch not the relatively few home fans. In fact many had already left as the game was well lost especially when the 3rd goal went in. Very very very disappointing we looked so disjointed. Individually we have some really good players but anyone thats played a bit if FIFA (and alike) on the X box and so on (And Ive only played a little) will know you need Chemistry and connectivity from the players its no good just picking and assembling a team of players with top ratings. Yes individually we have some half decent players but the way the manager sticks them together and the tactics (some might argue what tactics), lack of plan B and balance within shows Gabby to me at least is out of his depth. Yes he has achieved some success (or was that senior players chipping in?) but how many times did we get people last season saying anyone else wouldve been sacked a long time ago. Young mada huge difference. Sessay cannot start Saturday ahead of Young. Yet for me Ollie wasnt great and thats being generous, Lewis put decent crevasses in but did Ollie get anywhere near them? MOM head and shoulders above everyone else who else but Bullman. I thought when we drew Scunthorpe great thats winnable. Im less sure now. Gutted. We didnt want it as much as them.
Just listened to Gabby's post-match interview up to the point he refers to our main aim being to reach the 50 points. To me it sums him up too defensive and simply not capable of taking the club forward beyond that. Nothing I heard and I would've expected to hear how he and the players are hurting gutted as thats how Im sure a lot of the supporters feel this evening. He doesnt inspire me and Im not sure he inspires the players.
Sadly have suspected the manager is tactically flawed for a while and the last couple of games proves it for me. He got the line up wrong did not change it quickly enough when we need to change the game. Ollie had to start that one and if he had not got man management issues we would have had a Smith or Morais in that starting line up. We were creating chances for fun earlier in the season we now can not create anything more than long distance pot shots. The gap between the midfield and the strikers was to much again. The amount of time the ball went into the air and was lost was ridiculous.
The next game i don’t think we have the character to come back from the last to matches and win. On the plus side he might be home with his family at Xmas.

Ironic that we are so defensive and ship goals for fun which was forgivable when scoring freely ourselves.
Completely and utterly embarrassing we really bottled it with all the media presence. Sesay and the right wing once again getting exploited. Way too many goals conceded. Deep down I had a feeling we weren’t gonna Win this after watching saturday’s disasterclass. Also a shambles letting the Colchester fans out after that display at the end from our supporters on the pitch. Very lucky it didn’t kick off.

I don’t know how that Colchester fan managed to get so far to give it the big ‘in in front of the Crawley fans. I didn’t see the whole of what happened at the end, but from what I’ve heard thankfully it didn’t kick off because it could’ve turned nasty.
