I dont think we played particularly well...that is until Scunthorpe fell apart at the end. slippy defending again. sessay had some moments but clangers too. please concentrate defending and add to the attack at timely interventions like young did. The strangest tactic of all has to be taking Nadeson off and moving Reece into the centre! Yes he scored but really that was individual brilliance. Crowd in fine voice despite numbers down. MOM for me was Young. Did the simple stuff well and combined well in attacking play. I seriously wonder with line up formation tactics (some might say what tactics) and subs if Gabby knows what he is doing. Dont be fooled by the scoreline...yes its all about getting in the 2nd round but Scunthorpe are one of the worst if not the worst side we have played this season and we nearly threw it all away. Im pleased (we won), relieved (after the late equaliser), but far from impressed (enough to say we'll kick on in the league or cup).
For tonight at least enjoy the ride. Horrid conditions and hats off to the boys great result. You can only beat what is in front of you and to be honest they were nothing at all.
AFC "We won the Fa Cup once honest" 🏆in the next round would be fantastic. Especially if they practise their famous fire drill on the day. Onwards and upwards COYR'S
Strange game. A real slugfest. First half we went ahead when their keeper spilled a shot straight at him and Nadesan was there to head it in. Second we toiled and it looked like we were trying to see the game out at 1-0 but then it looked like our hard work was undone with a poor goal conceded from a set piece. Then Grego-Cox scored a superb goal from outside the box in what looked to be the winning goal, before two break away goals sealed the game for us as we ran away with it in the end with two goals in injury time. A superb ending to an otherwise mediocre performance. Hopefully scoring 4 goals against a fellow league two side gives us a bit of confidence and we can pick up some form and head up the table and hopefully get a good draw at home again in the second round!
I think it’s fair to say the scoreline flattered us somewhat. Hopefully the result will give us some confidence and impetus moving forward.
Was quite disappointed and surprised at the attendance. First time (apart from trophy match) that we have dropped below 2,000 I think? The price can’t have been an issue, but I’m guessing that a combination of recent form and the weather had an influence.
Never a 4-1 game but I do think we deserved to win it.
As an ex striker I thought Nadesan's goal was great. You train and train to follow the shot in because the keeper will sometimes make a hash of it. It's fun when it comes off.
I also thought Camara's dribble which led to ANG's goalwas a delight. He is a frustrating player but his work rate is top drawer.
Thought Sesay was carrying an injury for a lot of the second half. Might explain some of the hair raising defending he was involved in.

Jim Baker
yeah looked like the knee from the first half, hopefully not too serious we’ll need him if Doherty is still out
I am not sure about the "slugfest", "toiled and "flattered" comments. From where I was, we pretty much dominated the game throughout and especially in the second half when almost the whole game was played in their half, except for the odd break. We restricted Scunthorpe to the odd pot shot - they had two shots on target in the first half, both of which were comfortably saved by Glenn and other than one extraordinary save in the second half he was never troubled.
the team continued with the same work ethic and dominance we saw at Cambridge, except this time, we got the result we deserved. The defence were back to being rock solid - Lewis and Sesay both had outstanding games - Sesay especially, I don't think he was beaten once during the game. Dallison and Tunnicliffe missed nothing in the air.
In the midfield, the real sense of how good Scunthorpe are is that they made Ferguson look good. Dannie and Panuche were outstanding, Bez had a good game and tried his luck a few times. It was great to see Nadesan score but he is not great in the sole striker role and as soon as we switched to Rees up front we looked much more effective and looked as if we would score from every attack. Rees is stronger than he looks, jumps higher and headers better than you expect, is faster than the opposition defence would like and has a great shot. We looked a much more dangerous team when he moved up and ANG came on.
We missed a few reasonable chances before the goal in the first half and it was very well taken by Nadesan.
The second half was dominated by us and we were camped in their half for the rest of the game. They were reduced to long balls and hopeful punts to Jamie Proctor, who proved as good at dealing with these as he did when he was with us. As always though, when you are only one ahead anything can happen and they fluked an equalised. This really spurred them on and they started to play well until we took the lead again - so, three minutes then.
The second goal was a fantastic strike and as soon as the third went in we could all relax (on 94 minutes!). I don't recall the last time Crawley scored four goals in a meaningful game (Sussex Senior Cup doesn't count) but this was fully deserved and a great reward for the effort, frustrations and fitness of the players.

We have also had a lot of home games recently. Perhaps after the exit in the cup to Col U a few were put off.
