Crawley Town play at home to Port Vale in League Two of the 2019/2020 season, Saturday 14th December 3:00 pm kick off. Please keep all discussion about the match to this thread. Thank you and come on you Reds!
We created the chances just poor in front of goal that said Vale defended well. Bulman was best player on the park for me. Joe at centre back and two clean sheets coincidences?
Seriously tho, it was a very decent performance. As someone not really that sold on the new management regime, I’m happier than I was at the start of the day.
The football while not scintillating was decent today, I think we edged the game and had the better chances. Their keeper had a blinder and possibly Morris’s MOTM award was a homage to the actual most influential player on the pitch.
Our best performer was Ash, who I thought had his best game in a Red shirt, credit to Yems for starting him.
Tunnicliffe was also outstanding and Bulman not far behind. One clean sheet is by the by but two in a row is noticeable.
Palmer was a good presence but had to do better with that glorious chance from Bulman’s pass. Lubala and RCG not quite back to their early season best.
All in all a positive day. Thought Bradbury was a very significant presence in the dugout and the unwary might have guessed he was the manager.
Of the wider club issues, it was good that the worst fears reported by Straight Red did not materialise. My total respect to Euan and the lads though who should carry on their role of being the most provocative beat reporters of the club. Sincerely reporting insiders’ views doesn’t necessarily mean those insiders will be right in their immediate assessments but we as fans are all in a better place knowing what is being said. The club remains in a somewhat mysterious situation and we need more information and reports, not less
First half we started poorly and gradually eased into the game. Vale started on the front foot and created the better chances. Second half we had a go and miss a couple of glorious chances, Palmer twice one on one and Nathaniel George tried to walk it into the net when he should have shot. All in all it was a good performance in the end, but we should have converted at least one of those chances.
Big Joe had a few shaky moments but far more reassured moments including a shot nr pen spot late on when it was good to see him in the opponents pen box. We got better as game went on. Vale closed us down and we missed a handful of chances but a fair result.
Pitch looked like we've had donkey racing on it. Biggest puzzle was non PA introducing new manager to 1st home game in league today. Odd and somewhat disrespectful.
What was the scuffle at the end leaving BW stand it appeared Stewards objecting to 1 supporter swearing? If so could be OTT given 100s, 1000s do likewise.
Under 2k attendance. Apprx 1700 home fans is at least 100 down. We cant survive on that long term.
There was a minor contretemps amongst our fans at the end of the Stevenage game too, which had no mention on here. I wonder if it was the same reason. Pretty pathetic, given the size of our fan base, if we're now arguing with each other.
Quite enjoyed the game yesterday as we played with a positive attitude. Should of won it imo but we need to be more clinical in front of goal Thought Josh had a really good game, maybe his recent omission has helped him. Onwards and upwards
