An enjoyable match today.
We held on in the second half against a very good FGR team.
Bulman was excellent as was Morris. It's these experienced players that make a difference at this level.
Although Palmer and Nadesan could have done better with their finishing, the positive is that the rest of the team created those chances and put them in those positions.
The crowd behind the goal were excellent today, creating the best atmosphere we've had at the stadium for a league match in ages.
Well done the drummer and the singing lads behind the goal !!!
I thought we were decent today against a good team. Particularly liked the short passing game amongst our attacking players, very entertaining.
Nadesan improving, Palmer missed a good chance and tired from 70 mins onwards but boy would we miss him if he left. Dacres-Cogley a fine re-addition and Camera good in an unfamiliar position out wide
My view. FGR started well and had the majority of the ball early doors, 2nd part of the 1st half we started to dominate and scored that streaky goal (Good work by Nasedan) Second half FGR came out like a rocket, absolutely peppered our area and goal with crosses and shots, saying that when we broke we had a couple of gilt edged chances that came to nothing. FGR scored a more streaky goal by our MoM Tunicliff, did he have a brain fart? Overall happy with a point against a decent side. Excellent performances by Morris, Bullman, Camara and Allarakhia when he came on. I feel for Nadesan, nothing seems to go right for him, I made it 2 sitters he missed yesterday. As for Palmer am I alone in thinking that he looked laboured or not really on his game yesterday?
That was a hugely entertaining game. Two(!) good teams slogging it out with some very good football played by both teams. You can see why FGR are in the play off positions, they play very attractive football but certainly yesterday, with very little cutting edge.
Once again, there was a solidity at the back that is very hard for teams to break down and Glenn had only two saves to make - both very good saves. Apart from that, nothing more than routine catches.
The midfield play was very fast throughout and Brown was outstanding for them. He fitted into the gap in front of the back four which caused us problems for the first half but we responded well in the second and he was less effective. Bullie and Panuche were particularly effective in the middle, although Panuche appeared to be assigned more to the right. Nathan Ferguson was back to his pedestrian best - he is great on the ball but he still a half yard too slow.
Bez played very well throughout and deserved his goal - he was strong and solid throughout, while he was on and carried a threat going forward.
I thought Nadesan started well but he looked exhausted - I don't know how many of the last five games he has played in but he looked as if he needed a break. He was pretty ineffectual throughout apart from the goal. The body language said it all - watching the man instead of the ball, not tracking back, giving up on 50/50 runs etc but he did very well at the goal.
I thought Ollie played very well - he was a little selfish as others have stated but he won nearly every header and his ground play was exceptional and he brought other players into the game.
Overall, I thought we were worth the half time lead.
Second half FGR kept possession and moved the ball around very well but without threatening. They had a good spell leading up to their goal but got a huge slice of luck off Tunnicliffe's head, with Glenn poised behind him for another routine take.
We played more on the break in the second half and looked far more dangerous than they did for all their possession. I am always happy for teams to play their midfield angles all day, as long as we contain them as well as we did yesterday. They carried very little threat.
Allarakhia did very well when he came on and brought some real energy to the midfield.
Bloomfield was also a good swap for Nadesan but it should have been made earlier in the half when Ashley was clearly struggling.
Overall a deserved draw that could have gone either way and once again we more than matched higher opponents and got something out of the game.
My MoM was Panuche for his usual high energy high tempo game - I think someone has told him to shoot, he seemed to have more shots in this game than the rest of the season put together. Honourable mentions for Ollie, Bullie, Bez and the back four for pushing him hard.
Great atmosphere throughout - it is good to have two drums to stir the crowd.
Played very poorly in the second half and felt we lost our energy.Without an own goal it was three points in the bag but these things happen I hope Jordan keeps his head up he’s been fantastic ever since he’s come here. A few months ago we would have thrown this game and the point would have been out of reach let alone 3 points. Great atmosphere on the day and very enjoyable being in the BW stand. You reds.
Allarakhia did very well when he came on and brought some real energy...
Gotta agree, he looked like a proper impact sub & popped up everywhere. I also thought Pooch seemed more disciplined, but still very effective.
Cannot help feeling that a difference in why we have become more difficult to beat is that everyone now knows exactly what their role is. FGR were precisely the sort of strong, organised outfit that would have rolled us over not that long ago.
