the thing is sometimes its worth taking a gamble on a player but you have to give them the opportunity to either excel or disappoint in this players case he never received the opportunity
can we expect the other lad we signed around the same time Van Velzen to leave in the same manner?
On a side note what happened to Meite is the lad still with us?

He had a club. Sadly we never gave him a chance. It's what happens when you have a completely out of his depth DoF signing random players that the manager doesn't actually want. They don't get any games, and as we don't have a reserve side poor Boadu was just wasting away here. No wonder he wanted to leave.
Was he any good? We'll never know. I hope he finds another club that actually values him and plays him.
Technical Director, Erdem Konyar said: "Denzeil has left today after seeking his release from the club. Reluctantly we have had to accept as Denzeil has been adamant to leave. We believe Denzeil had a lot to offer and were very reluctant to release him however his desire for first team football has led to the club accepting his request".
Really? If the club actually thought he had a lot to offer, why not play him? They seem pissed that he wanted to leave in search of first team football. I genuinely question whether our current owners actually have a clue what they are doing.
Looking at it another way, he was a pointless signing who wasn't good enough.
Two Crawley managers didn't think he was good enough to warrant anything above the SSC, in fact to my knowledge at 22 he has never played a senior game anywhere, ever.
Total waste of time, just like Verheydt, Sanoh, Van Velzen, Meite and many other Crawley signings in recent times.
Sounds to me like he will end up playing in the Rymans plus getting a real job.
Agree with that up to a point. We'll never know if Boadu was good enough for us because he was never given a run of games to show what he can do. Occasional appearances in the SSC don't really help with that. Yes, the managers see the players in training and make up their minds. My post was more about the pointless signings the club continually make with apparently no input from the manager/coaching staff. It's just a waste of money paying players to not ever play. Whether their ability level is L2, conference or Rymans is irrelevant. The whole approach to signing players is flawed. No wonder the chief scout left/was binned off.

Meite is still on loan at Woking, he has scored a few for them as well.

It does seem strange but you have to assume that if Cioffi and Yems didn't fancy him, then he must not have exactly been looking the part in training. Think this is a classic case of the DoF getting overly excited at seeing the big name clubs on his CV and coming over all 'Football Manager' about it. Like when we signed Mersin and hyped him as a former Liverpool keeper.
huge risk and im unhappy with such a lengthy contract unnecessary could come back to bite the club but i hope not. Dont get me wrong he has done wonders to date but 3 years is imho crazy.
I understand your point George, but even lengthy contracts usually have "get out" termination clauses, which limit the risk.
Yems may be a spot unreconstructed for some - who prefer their managers in suits from Armani & quoting Wittgenstein - but there are a few of a similar (homegrown rough diamond) model out there. Dean Smith at Villa & Chris Wilder at The Blades for starters.

he can stand there in a superman outfit, his y fronts or put on the reggie outfit for all i care if he continues the good play and results. I of course wish him well and congratulate him on the success his has brought the club so far.

With the greatest of respect, unless you have seen the contract and any break clauses contained in it you could not possibly know what level of risk it represents.
Plus off course there is the opposite risk. If he got us in the play offs there is the risk another club could come calling. UEFA A coach, 6 years experience at Bournemouth, and scouting for PL teams is a better CV than many of his predecessors.
