So does anyone know what's going on with the players we sent out on loan the first half of the season? I know Josh Payne has had his loan extended until the end of the season - he won't be back. And we've recalled Ricardo German, though not sure how many games he will get for us, if any.
The big question is Jimmy Smith - is he coming back? Is he staying at Yeovil? I wonder if anyone at the club actually knows? Personally, I'd love to see him back in the team, driving our midfield.
We also had Ibrahim Meite on loan at Woking. And Jack Powell was at Aldershot for 5 months - anyone know what's happening with these guys? I'm just curious because we have a massive squad for L2 level, and seem to be paying wages to players who never actually turn out for us (Forrest, Boadu, Van Velzen etc) It really can't make good business sense can it? We're hardly rolling in cash that we can maintain such a large squad of players. With Galach now out on loan we can only have a matchday squad of 17 anyway.
Which one of our muppet directors is in charge of this side of things? They can't really blame Kelly any more, can they?

I may be alone in this but I for one never saw Jimmy Smith driving our midfield, I saw him waving his arms alot and getting forward and scoring a decent number of goals but certainly never saw him as any sort of midfield anchor. I also might like to see him back but mainly as another source of goals not to drive our midfield? Why "muppet directors"?
Erdem announced on twitter earlier on Wednesday that they will be an announcement regarding JIMMY tomorrow.... and it’s not one that we want to hear .... .... but if the grass is greener and he doesn’t want to play for the club what’s the point in paying his wages ... also on Tuesday he was asked if we have any incomings .. his reply was. “ we have a good size squad no urgent requirement “
Jack Powell was one of the oddest transfers of the last window. It's like we bought him just in case we couldnt get in the other players we were chasing.
I did wonder whether German coming back and Galach going out on loan meant German qualifies as our 7th sub as he's now been here a year. Not sure whether he was young enough though.
I still don't understand about Jimmy Smith. Why did we give him another year on his deal when he was injured only to loan him out and never play him again. I didn't see loaning him out as a bad move to build his fitness, but this is now sounding as if he may be off.

I think the decision to loan him out when we did to allow him to play regularly and re-build his match fitness was the right one. He would have struggled to get the game time if he'd stayed and it also allowed him to manage his recovery in a slightly easier league.
I personally believe that the original plan was to have him return in January after his loan, but you could also argue that the squad has moved on in that time (always a risk from Jimmy's perspective) and found a status quo of sorts that perhaps the manager is reluctant to upset.
In other words, who would you drop to make way for Jimmy? Which leaves us with the unenviable position of possibly having our well paid captain sitting on the bench struggling for game time. If we're going to have a bit-part player earning money sitting down, perhaps it makes more sense for that to be someone a bit cheaper or at an age when they can be brought on happily and for the good of all involved for small periods of time.
Also, Jimmy is not getting any younger and it might make more sense for his career to play a level down but regularly and extend his career by a couple of years. If he only gets bench time with us he could run the very real risk of this being his last season in the game and the opportunity to make one last move might pass him by. Perhaps a greater show of loyalty from the club is to allow him that move.

I always thought Powell sounded a good signing, a decent level Conference player who by the sound of it "gets stuck in" from midfield, just seemed strange but maybe Cioffi didnt rate him. I think his loan ends later this month, but has been featuring regularly for Aldershot and setting up chances for them (on their good recent run) so maybe he will come back?
John Yems must have been reading my post, just announced we have recalled him! Hopefully he gets a chance, several Shots fans disappointed he has gone and had done well for them in a very competitive league.
I've just been watching clips of Powell, not sure what level he was playing at but he certainly looks like he has the full range of a abilities for a midfielder.
Powell certainly did not look amazing earlier in the season but if he’s done well at the Shots he deserves another chance as a bench contender here who probably isn’t on high wages.
Smith is in a different category as a senior player. He wouldn’t start ahead of Camera or Ferguson for me so if we are getting some money back from Yeovil that represents good business
