Indeed David some will raise their eyebrows but those who have seen him play know just how good he is at doing the dirty work and giving it to those players who can play
I don't expect the same energy level as a few years ago, but he doesn't need that anyway because he has a good footballing brain. Excellent news. He can do a decent job for us. He's the type of player we've been missing.
Brilliant news. He played about 40 games for AFC in L1 last season, so he obviously is still in good shape, I'm sure he could still improve our midfield, we've been missing a player like him for a while now, I don't think he'll be as good as before, but still will be much better than Clifford or Smith.

I notice you said Smith instead of Payne, was that in error?
I'm pleased but with a bit of apprehension. He is undoubtedly still a good player and I really, really want him to do well. But will the 'old' legs still be up to it? I know he played 33 League One games last season with an additional 11 other games and that should tell its own story.
However, I have been saying to my mates all season that we need a 'Dannie Bulman' type player in midfield, and along comes the real McCoy.
Welcome back Dannie, very pleased to see you again.
Hopefully he'll be groomed to take some form of future coaching or management role with the club. On the face of it an excellent addition for next season.
