Paul H saying on Twitter that the new scoreboard has arrived, and that he will make up the shortfall for the £25k installation costs, along with the £10k from the random man at the fans forum, and £1k from the CTSA Alliance.
I could be wrong, but didn't the owner say that he would still pay for it at the FF? I know he wasn't happy about the unexpected cost, but I'm sure I remember that it was said he would still stump up the cash. Even with the unexpected cost, is it not essentially the owner's job to ensure the ground has basic things like a working scoreboard?
Ah well, either way it seems like we'll soon be able to know how long is left in a game without all having to collectively check our watches/phones. The glamour of it all.
I thought it was said that as it was not in the budget so the club would have trouble paying the £25k even the £15k after the generous offer from the floor. There has been a lot of talk of arranging an EGM at the CTSA to get them to spend the money they have just sitting in the bank to be used to the benefit of the supporters. All it requires is 20 members, so 20 season ticket holders to get together and ask for an EGM and then attend the EGM plus a few more to make sure it goes through. If the cash is not forth coming then I might just start the ball rolling because talking to friends who are season ticket holders, I don’t think it would be hard to get the 20 signatures require. Is the name of the person who offered the £10k known to the club and is it still on the table?
Really appreciate HKP's donation but we will end up with basically a clock that cost £65k. Anyone remember the scoreboard on the East Terrace before the tented stand was erected?
From what I am told it will be a clock but on a large screen that will be able to run adverts which would be able to generate income for the club. I hope its on par with the large screen that they have at Colchester which the club can put any info they want to inform the supporters.
I was the one who offered the 10K but I haven't heard anything from the club since the Fans Forum. Before handing over the money I want to know a bit more about how it will be spent.

I dont blame you I would hang onto my money untill the club confirmed how, when and where it will be used.

Fair play to you Allan, very generous. But definitely wait for more details. Bizarre for the club not to be in regular contact with you about it to be honest. If someone offered me £10k like that I'd never be off their doorstep.
i just hope the new scoreboard is bigger and easier to read. i thought the brightness combined with tiny font and charrecters so close together wasnt helpful or maybe i need to see an opticion

Well done Allan, at least Robert won’t have to keep asking you how long left

I'm not involved with the CTSA board now but I think under the constitution that full members having a vote are those that have paid an annual subscription.
In a bid to increase interest season ticket holders were indeed given free membership. However it never was the intention that STHs who have not contributed financially to the CTSA should have control over where CTSA reserves are spent.
It was agreed after the forum that the profits of the Reds Rollover would be used for this purpose. Steve Leake is gradually increasing interest (almost 40 members) but has the same issue though, many people have a view on how money should be spent but go missing when it comes to raising funds to start with. The CTSA chair did seek some help from the club with an up to date list of STHs so they could promote RR membership and increase donations but got no response from Selim or Joe.
By the way I understand the CTSA Chair also contacted Erdem to ask how the existing money could be paid: the answer.....silence. Bearing in mind the comments from Allan above maybe the financial need is not as great as we thought?
It has been stated that all season ticket holders are automatically members of the CTSA where does it say in the constitution of the CTSA that ST's are a lower grade membership level.
Clause 12 states that "members are to pay an annual subscription of such reasonable sum as the Society Board shall decide". So if you have not paid an annual subscription then you are not a full member.
Clause 104 allows the CTSA board to adopt measures to further the business of the CTSA which they did to allow STH to participate in AGMs etc, particularly at the time the supporter rep was elected. There was a similar precedent for this when the CTSA was formed and for 5 years founder members of the old Devils Trust had free membership of CTSA.
It is not a question of lower grade, the purpose of the constitution being written this way was that it was never the intention that people who have not made a financial contribution to CTSA should dictate how the reserves should be spent.
