If anyone is interested, I have been trying to watch the weekend's matches from South Korea. All K1 matches could be viewed although some of the hosting sites may not have been legitimate ! Anyway the K League have posted highlights for all K1 and K2 matches to their YouTube channel and the South Korean FA have posted highlights to two first round matches in their FA Cup ( involving K3, K4 & K5 sides ).
Links to all the highlights are in the attached blog, it is good to see they have VAR contraversies as well !
Another really good MOTD I much prefer the new format. The lineker, Wright and Shearer interactions make it very enjoyable watch. My number 1 FA Cup moment:
50 greatest FA Cup moments on Saturday night was good as well.
I enjoy the 'Big Match Revisited' on ITV and BT. Makes you realise how 'robust' some of the tackling was in the 1970s, and you had to land a knock out blow to even get a booking. But funnily enough most players just got up and got on with it.
The other thing is there was hardly any diving, shirt pulling, time wasting, dissent etc. I suppose that was before the arrival of Strictly which showed players how to fall over at the merest touch.
The best Ive seen all lockdown. Tonight on BBC1 "Alan Shearer's Euro 96": a really informative interesting look back. Shearer is becoming as good a presenter on TV as he was a footballer. Captured key moments including the excitement and has left me desperately wanting to attend football as a fan at a ground (not on TV)...all together now..."football's coming home, it's coming home...."

I was lucky enough to see Shearer score live for England in the World Cup 1998 in France down in Marseille ( the match with the terrible riots ) we beat Tunisia. A fantastic match in the hot sun of the South of France.
It's coming home, it's coming home , it's coming, footballs coming home

That Euro 96 program is the one I've enjoyed the most so far as well.
As for the current MOTD format, that seems to be working pretty well, I think. Shearer seems to be the straight man while Wrighty is his foil. It's a well-tested way and has worked with many comedy duos - and who could forget Saint and Greavesie?

Saint and Greavsie changed the face of sports broadcasting. Before them it was all so serious in the TV studios of sports programmes. They threw that format away and made it ok to have fun with sport and treat their programme as entertainment rather than boring analysis.

I once read a book by Jimmy Greaves about his football career and his battle with alcohol. The book was called "This One's On Me," if anyone is interested. One part I remember from the book was when he wrote of his rather nervy introduction to broadcasting as a studio guest after his playing career had ended. He was in the studio with a couple of "experts" who were carrying out some rather boring analysis. I think it was his second or third visit when the team were examining a rather dodgy-looking goal that had been allowed. The players did their usual kissing to celebrate, as was sometimes the custom back then, when Greavesie piped up: "If I'd scored that I'd have kissed the ref." He recalled that as the turning point in his broadcasting career and the lesson he learned was, "Be yourself!" I used to greatly enjoy that Saturday slot with Saint and Greavesie. I think it was Greavesie who first openly poked fun at Scottish goalkeepers (wonder if that would be allowed these days?)

Culminating in Fantasy Football League, but nothing hitting those heights since.
