HUGE mistake especially for those about to step into and with a realistic chance of playing league football. Football must be decided on the pitch. No need in any case to make such an early decision. What if we get say a second wave another pandemic scrap it all again? (next season), I feel for clubs in promotion contention and their fans robbed of opportunities.
That is disappointing to read. I'm surprised that a vote was taken with no conclusion on what to do about promotion/relegation. Could those jammy buggers at Stevenage escape the drop?

Just relegate Cheatenage THEN cancel the season๐
www.thesun.co.uk/sport/11476053/premier-league-games-back-tv-within-weeks/ If it does happen then making matches freely available and not just on SKy, BT Sport etc I think is key as the report suggests else social distancing will not be strictly observed and people will go round mates houses gather together especially if you haven't access to those channels. That said Im sure it will happen anyway perhaps to a less extent though. As I've mentioned previously though try and keep people at home for key matches (relegation/promotion) wont be easy and town/city centres and stadiums are obvious places fans will gather especially to celebrate.
Approved grounds for prem league im guessing Amex ideal as awful transport outside City less likely attract curious passer bys, any thoughts on others that may be approved and others that wont be? Will clubs object to playing their home fixtures away/neutral grounds?
300 people attending (players, staff, Dr, coaxhes etc and 130 media!), I suppose plenty of room to socialy distance then. Whats the bet whatever matches Liverpool play that could be the ultimate game that wins them the title are played far away from Merseyside.
A police comment "I think we all need to look at options about what games absolutely need to be played." - some games completed but mid-table v mid-table matches scrapped?

I had wondered about this myself, but with so many games left in the season and with many teams in with a mathematical chance of something, it would probably lead to most games being played initially. As things progress though, more matches could be rapidly shelved. For instance, at the moment Crawley can still win the league 2 title never mind a play off place, and Stevenage could overhaul our points total. Of course, nether will happen. There could also be the case of a team getting several weeks off being called into action because an opposing team is in with a theoretical chance of something.
The prize money for clubs differs depending on their final position too, though something could be worked out about that.
France have joined Belgium, Holland and Scotland in cancelling their season. Itโs nuts as the worst hit country in Europe that we havenโt followed suit yet, sport is not important in these cases. With the season 80% done itโs fairer to let the results stand as is rather than scrub the records. A few extra teams in the Premiership would allow promotion throughout the leagues without the unfairness of relegating teams in these circumstances

If and when a new season starts might it be fair to write off this season but the new season would start with all teams in the same league positions with the same number of points as when this season was stopped.
