I’m hoping the fact the retained list hasn’t come out yet is a good sign of contract negotiations I expect a lot of our out of contracts will sign a one year instead of gambling with trying to get a new club or better wages in the current climate

or it might be because many of us wondering what Government/Scientists/WHO etc. will make up next and have little idea what will happen with football. Even though the premier league is about to kick off what if there is an outbreak of self-isolation with a team that throws all the fixtures into chaos? The club could simply be waiting to see if (despite some at best very indirect reassurances from within the club) there is going to be a season at some point starting September or later. If the next season kicks off later say end of 2020/start 2021 the format may look quite different and taking that into account I personally if running the club would be reluctant to have too many retained players, as my belief is there will be more than usual players looking for clubs, as some clubs may well go to the wall, go from full to part-time, or be in the brink of collapse. We have in the past picked up several reasonable top non-league players and I believe there will be more looking to play football. I see no reason to rush things. As I Understand it we will have some players contracted already anyway so its not like the season will suddenly kick off with no notice and see the club in panic stations.
Lets see how the Premier League re-start goes and then we may have an indication of what'll happen next. If as I suspect its 2021 before fans are coming through turnstiles again then the club has to financially re-structure itself and that surely will determine any contract negotiations. I firmly believe Crawley Town FC (like many other especially lower league clubs) cannot and will not be held to ransom by player demands. On the other hand the owners may be picking money off their tree now. What do I know!

Hit the nail on the head, at the end of the day it all depends on Ziya and our ability to support the club in any way we can with the fundraiser and Crawley Ballerz. Also I hope it’s not until 2021 until we can’t return to the broad field but I fear you’re right with the rate of infection staying roughly the same.

With the league formally over I guess this will soon be resolved.
There will be plenty of players at higher levels getting released, so it may also be question of whether we offer one year deals.
Either way I don't see much rush, there is no sign of when next season may start or even what the transfer window arrangements are, so it makes sense to be conserving cash.
By my unreliable calculations, they are: Young, Doherty, Sesay, Sendles-White, Smith, Payne, Bulman, Camara, Francomb, Nathaniel-George, Palmer, Meite.
So Nathaniel-George and Francombe both signed for another 2 years, Doherty and Sesay getting one year.
We know Jimmy is leaving (makes it even the more unusual we gave him a contract last year) and I suspect Palmer, Meite and Payne will be leaving as well.
That leaves, Young, Camara, Bulman and Sendles-White. I would like to think we would keep Camara. I would imagine there's another year for Bulman if he wants it, possibly along with a coaching role.
Just seen Reise Allassani has been released by Coventry and sounds the sort of player we might gamble on - good record in non-league and has played for Dulwich. Whilst we are possibly unlikely to be signing anyone in the immediate future, I would hope the Club are still keeping an eye on who is becoming available with a view to inviting them down for trials when training restarts.
I cannot see how fans return unless ALL redtrictions and pre-covid normality returns. I find it really annoying how messages like this are said when it raises hope yet on other hand we are then told depends on this that and the other. My guess and it cant be anything else is 2021 at the earliest. I have this awful feeling after face covering on public transport...in sports stadiums? Pictures of medics in masks players not on football on TV last night...does it all add up?
