What did police expect? Out of touch id say with repression and importance football is to the city and people and its not like this wasnt an obvious outcome.
As for the football. Brilliant and beyond reach of so many. Destroyed Palace and many others. Unreachable in quality and perfection they play. I can only watch and admirethe collective brilliance of by far best team in Premier League. Congratulations Liverpool.
Who'd have thought a Chelsea win would be celebrated so joyously on Merseyside...!
Having endorsed a visit to Anfield by a team & fans from Madrid - at that point, the world epicentre for spread of the virus - quite literally days before lockdown became the only credible option...
...the various authorities had placed themselves in a very weak position to be anything, other than passive...
...as George noted, if you couldn't see this was going to happen, then you should have gone to Barnard Castle...!
Football season stopped in march and started again in June....not a proper season.
Liverpool were allowed to play out their games yet teams like Tranmere and Peterborough had their fate decided by a vote......all because of tv money couldn't be lost
Its not even been 24 hours and im sick of the media love in. The way the way media are covering this you would of thought we just won a world war
I will admit to being surprised by the love in for a team that doesn't play the tippy tappy football that we must all love. I mean, they get the ball forward quickly, they press high up the pitch and have a centre forward who constantly runs the channels. Reminds me of the Cambridge side that almost go to the old first division.

Let's face it, the title was done and dusted well before the season was suspended. So either way they would have won it.
To be fair they were the best team by a mile. A good example that others may have big name players, but how you get them playing as a team really counts.

There is a level of irony, insofar as they have made the final of & won quite a few European trophies - usually regarded in media circles as the holy grail - in the interim years...
...Yet, to their people, it is this specific domestic prize that they value most highly...!
