Did Port5cumouthy fans sneak in at Fratton Park? Chants of "come on Portsmouth" or is that me watching without artificial added crowd noise. Then after they draw with Oxford 1-1; 5 mins into Barton's XI aka Fleetwood and Wycombe and we have 3 goals. Wycombe lead 2-1 (the second direct from the corner); Ched Evans scored a (weakly awarded) pen for Fleetwood. Fans flags at both these matches looks more natural than the premier league flag adverts. The lockdown award for the most cardboard fans goes to Portscumouth.
The award for the most (only?) Scarecrows goes to Fleetwood. It looks like some houses overlook the pitch. I wonder how many people (or scarecrows) you can cram in looking outta the bedroom window?
Full on incidents at Fleetwood. Pen missed and countless claims for others. Fleetwood down to 9 players as Wycombe are 4-1 up and about to finish with one foot already at Wembley. How the fvck does a flare end up on the pitch? Its a red one. It temp hold up play. A few unhappy home fans lingering outside or maybe thrown from an 'over looking house'? 9 mins to go ...how many more incidents after a Fleetwood player barges a Wanderer over the advertising onto a concrete landing? The 2nd leg could be interesting. Ends 4-1 to Wycombe.

The Portsmouth noise was sound effects on TV.
The flare was thrown over the fence from outside.
The barge was 90% dive. You could see afterwards the ref and player laughing about it.
What a great job Gareth Ainsworth has done at Wycombe. Plus another goal for David Wheeler, started his playing career at Lewes.

I remember watching David Wheeler at Lewes, he was by far their best player and only hope for a result in those days as well! Good to see that he's having a good career in league football, shame it never worked out in the championship at QPR, but he may get there with Wycombe instead!
FFS, yes I said F.... sake! "We apologise for offensive language" pops up on screen and frequent apologies from the comentator. Its football! And so much better without daft artificial crowd noise. Incidentally there was no apology for the ADDED TV crowd noise in a Millwall game I watched!! Result Wycombe 2 Oxford 1 (not bad for a team expected to be relegated) PS i would be interested to know who the 'anker remark keeps being aimed at!
Massive congratulations to Wycombe Wanderers on promotion to division 2. What an effort that is.......and a club that stuck with their manager despite results not always going their way. Fair play to them.
There is a counter-argument that says Wycombe voted for a system to conclude the season that elevated them and provided an opportunity via the play offs that they would not have otherwise had and Im sure a few clubs will be somewhat bitter at their promotion. Ask Barry Fry as Peterborough lost out www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/52986963 . Nevertheless, a very enjoyable final and such a shame that the fans could not be there. You certainly could sense the togetherness within the club and I think if Crawley can emulate some of that then there is no reason why we cannot go on and have success in the future too.

Yep. As I said before what a fantastic job Gareth Ainsworth has done at Wycombe.
Small squad but everyone did their bit and they took their chances last night.
How often does that happen.....sneaked into the play offs at the last minute, and momentum took them all the way.
Yes, congratulations to Wycombe, but I hope it doesn't prove to be a poisoned chalice. Clubs that get promoted beyond their financial and structural abilities can struggle badly. We got away with it when entering the league because of HKP's financial input (cheers, mate) and that big fat cheque from Man United, but once the FFP rules started to place a drag us, we had to lose players (apparently, we offered them inferior contracts so they went elsewhere). That largely led to the relegation back to league 2 as McLeod's goals (plus his diving and cheating) weren't enough to keep us up.
It appears that Wycombe must enter the Championship with pretty much the same playing staff. That can sometimes work as shown by the likes of Bournemouth, but it's more usual to turn out like Yeovil or Bradford or, dare I say it, Wimbledon. But you take the promotion and hope that a few teams are worse than you while sorting out your infrastructure.
It will certainly be tough, a glance at the Championship table shows it is packed with ex PL sides and a few others like Luton and Preston who are well established.
Probably their best example to follow is Burton who managed to stay up for a couple of years without screwing up their finances.

I'm sure Luton was put in accidentally there.
Ha. Maybe. But unlike AFC they did actually win a trophy at Wembley....

in recent season you have to admire the ability of Brentford to develop & sell talent, whilst still slowly improving the side each year.
