14 players available how many a side were Notts hoping to play?
I saw the story but haven't read it but if they have 14 players and no keeper it does become moot how many players you have available. Like wise if you don't have a centre back or some such.
The problem they probably have is "is it worth putting out a scratch side, travelling to Kings Lynn and getting thrashed"?
There are ways and means but a few may slip through. Its a farse all round. As for social distancing at these lower non league levels anyone who thinks its happenning is well deluded..a bit of rain and everyone huddles into the cow shed stands. Its the large numbers coming/going that I think is the problem area that government wants to avoid. If you have a demo protest though thats ok apparently. Toppsy turvy world and football is part of it.
True Simon, true...but then we don't know how bad their injury/sickness problem is.
As a rule I'm with you and they should always try to put a team out but there are exceptions to every rule and I'm not willing to condemn a club without knowing the full facts ( not that you have).
The facts are on their website Jim. They they had 14 players unavailable but with a risk of further infections they decided the responsible thing was not to travel because they didng want to "unknowingly and irresponsibly spread the virus to any of our aforementioned opponents".
No team voluntarily pulls out of the FAC unless the situation is serious....what else did you want them to say?
From reading the report on the Notts County website it appears they (Notts County) have done everything correctly.
As frustrating as it is for them, as a club and as players, and their opponents they, the National league and the FA have come to the conclusion that the FA cup game (and two other league games) cannot go ahead.
It will probably happen to another club. I hope its not us but it is a possibility.
