PL manager wants players fast tracked for the vaccine claiming cost savings on testing, is that a way of queue jumping (although report suggests that isnt intended)? Common sense or not much help because the vaccine isnt 100% going to be effective in all cases and to varied degrees, so might players need, or the league still want them tested anyway, allbeit perhaps less frequently? For me, the suggestion overpaid PL players (and then where does this stop: coaches, stewards, admin lady, tea boy etc.) is against the spirit of tending to the vulnerable and needy first.
No, no, no. Dyche just doesn't get it. The vaccine is to save lives and people in the 17-38 age range (most players) are unlikely to die or even get very sick from covid-19. I've no problem with older football employees, such as managers, receiving it in their rightful turn. How could any footballer who has been vaccinated look the relative of a deceased person in the eye and say that their need was greater. Bill Shankly was wrong - football isn't more important than life or death - though I imagine he said it with tongue firmly planted in cheek. If this were about money, we might as well let the rich buy their way to the front of the queue. I'm not going to be too hard on Dyche as he might simply have engaged mouth before brain. Everyone does that occasionally, and I do usually feel a lot of respect for the guy. But when he reflects on his words, I suspect he might feel a tinge of embarrassment.

I disagree, I spoke with someone today who works at Royal Marsden and all 3000 staff were vaccinated this week. If it was at no detriment to those who need it most and they could easily organise the vaccination of approx 600-700 players and officials, I don't see why not? I don't think an extra 600 odd vaccinations is going to cause anyone to miss out. I think it makes logical sense considering the expense and effect testing is having, that's not from a selfish perspective, I don't even watch the PL. If the vaccination was in short supply then my opinion would be very different.

Although the vaccine itself isn't currently in short supply, the news is that bottlenecks look likely to appear in the system: (1) Batch testing can take twenty days, though they are working on shortening this. (2) It looks like there will be a shortage of glass phials at some point and we might not have the ability to make our own for a few more months yet. So, at some point, footballers receiving vaccinations may deprive someone who is needier. Of course, it's too early to say for certain.

Isn't the difference that people at the RM look after sick patients and save lives? People at Turf Moor kick a football around and earn lots of money.
