I do not understand the logic behind holding the draw for round 4 and round 5 on the same day.
I fully agree Ashdown Red. What IS the point of this? You can’t plan anything for the 5th round in terms of analysis of the opposition or travel (if drawn away) until you know your 4th round result, so why not do the 5th round draw once a majority of the 4th round games have been played like has ALWAYS happened previously? Who wants to see a load of either/or on a fixture list?
I’m 44 and am becoming increasingly annoyed at how the FA Cup has changed over recent years. I understand the lack of replays due to fixture congestion and the like but the 3 biggest sins for me are:- Both semi-finals played at Wembley. The final itself not kicking off at 3pm on a Saturday. The final taking place before the Premier League has finished.
Might the two rounds on the same day be about covid-19? It means safety protocols only being implemented once rather than twice. Thinking of it, maybe they could do the either/or draws all the way to the final, but that would remove much of the magic.
so we could have a 5th round draw Southampton or Shrewsbury Town or Stockport County or West Ham versus Wycombe Wanderers or AFC Bournemouth what use is that to anyone?
The game will be a tough one. Bournemouth have been playing most of their first team in the cup and after the result yesterday they will not take it lightly.
