Ever thought Yems has been told that we cant afford to get promotion so by tinkering with the team selection he keeps us around mid table the way things are going you have to have some conspiracy theories.

Flawed theory Trev, there is no benefit in blowing out now - in fact, making the play-offs would greatly improve our finances -
a proper conspiracy would only introduce the policy by waiting until just before the penalty shoot-out at Wembley...!
We don’t half have some fickle fans - have a bad run and it’s doom and gloom for the rest of the season - all clubs go through a bad time at some point during the season - it’s now we need to support our team rather than slag them off - so many games to play so why rite off the season so early - I’m certainly not until it’s mathematically impossible- I think Yems learned a lot about our players yesterday and will put things right.

This "we can't afford" makes no sense to me. The extra revenue, publicity, interest, playing a couple of (relegated) 'big' championship clubs etc. Of course we can afford promotion. If players demand higher salaries and we cannot afford/don't want to pay more, then as our revolving door has shown there are others out there. I would like to think we can get back on track and into the play offs but realistically we'll need a run of results - wins, 3 points back to back for starters. Essentially our priority is survival and every point is another towards end of season tally.

Quite right Al, the scourge of social media and knee jerk reactions.
I haven't given up yet; three or four wins on the spin would put us back in the mix for a play off spot I accept it's starting to look like odds against, but when did that stop a team from trying?

If only! While we all can hope and wish for that, having spent last 4 years always thinking along similar lines to help get through some of the tedious games we have seen unless we keep our best players it won't happen. Some say it is good business by us in selling players on I would counter and suggest keeping them longer and maybe getting promotion would - help increase the gates and therefore revenue - increase players value going forward generating even more revenue if we had to sell them - increase entertainment for the fans making games more enjoyable - help attract new talent of a proven ability
rather than take a quick buck which we then don't seem to reinvest in new players. If you look at who we have sold since coming into the league you see a pattern that has become the norm and one that seems to be accepted at higher levels within the club and maybe even by many of us fans
Personally I always have a knee jerk reaction to a poor performance leading to a loss. My toys leave my pram at a rate of knots and every player and member of the match day team are complete and utter whatchmacallems!
With that in mind I try not to comment on individual player's performance when posting but people who stand near me will have heard my not so subtle digs regarding the parentage and solo sexual practices of players and coaches.
By the next day I have normally calmed down a bit and by the time the next game comes around I have that little bit of hope again.
To be honest I don't expect us to reach the play offs this season. I dont think we are good enough but the question asked "if" we could make it to which the answer is a resounding Yes!

I kind of agree but when we were in league one our attendance didn’t really change much though. We were very “tinpot” compared to the other teams in the league at the time.

Thad's theory - stop me if you've heard this one before - is that the golden ticket for improving attendances is... ...promotion via the playoffs, with the townsfolk getting a lovely spring day out at Wembley & an eagerness to return...!
Right now I'm missing football so much a wet and windy day at Canvey Island looks attractive never mind Wembley! It's difficult balancing the needs of fans and the club survival but ultimately we need the club there in the first place to support. Having enjoyed watching the club rise up from non-league I do need to now and again remind myself that the away day at Tamworth was for days like Torquay and Leeds (albeit in the cup) as well as the Orient and Cambridge days. It's great to be playing Cambridge in league two rather than non-league. We have an attractive prospect that the club are doing really well to build a reachable professional alternative to the same old Premier League model at the Amex and we are building connections at grassroots levels, but it's going to take time. We compete against so many not just on the Sussex coast but stood at Three Bridges station (pre-covid). To increase our attendances we must I believe speculate more to accumulate and where possible if we can hold on to the Max Watters of this world great, alas I fear that's only going to happen by chance (sales fall through etc.) than intention.

Very true, and that’s kind of why the money tap got turned off slightly.
