Keep political rants out of football. This taking the knee is boring. End of. Next question please...
I believe it is football related as it's about how footballers respond to racism within the game.
Also, I don't know where you are seeing a "rant". I merely spotted an article and linked to it, without expressing any opinion.
If people find the subject boring, that's fine - there is no obligation on anyone to post on this thread or even read it. Yourself included. The thread is accurately labelled as to content, unlike some I see on the internet, so anyone is free to skip over it.
I agree with Zaha if you haven’t read his recent comments, it became very diluted and lost its meaning very quickly and became more a way for the media to virtue signal(sky sports especially is guilty of this) and expect racism to be fixed. The solution is not easy and a lot of it comes from peoples upbringing and culture. The recent abuse has come from social media which is very hard to control.
ALL gestures lose impact & resonance after a while... but it has prompted a debate which is a positive step, changing entrenched attitudes & established outlooks takes more time.
However, losing impact has another side. While in North America I actually found the whole flag-waving, anthem singing, standing up with hand on heart nonsense, that precedes any - even minor - sports events, rather tiresome.
There is a hint of Nuremberg about the entire charade. The derision I faced when I expressed that opinion was animated & extraordinary, it is so much part of the culture, with a truly Pavlovian response, that it now cannot even be questioned.
We have. It got locked eventually as it got somewhat out of hand (here is a link: ctfcfansforum.freeforums.net/thread/1326/knee ). We always invite open debate though, so lets hope this thread doesn't end up like the last one. The originator of this thread has referenced new outlook via the media, so I don't see it as a complete repeat thread - though like many threads there is sometimes a somewhat unavoidable element of overlapping.
Well done Brentford; this merry-go-round knee bending is ridiculous, we are a sport that unites everyone in sport; we do not exclude anyone and in fact we have separate womens, mens football, youth football, old-timers, disabled, walking football to name but a few. The political movement in BLM is deeply offensive. FFS No more politics in football.

Yes, I was hesitant to start a new thread on the subject, but felt that the apparent shift in attitude justified it, perhaps. I wasn't trying to introduce a political discussion - there are plenty of places on the internet where those are possible if someone wishes.
EDIT TO ADD: I wasn't aware that the previous thread had been locked.

It's kind of telling that there are so many people shouting "keep politics out of football".
But not once have they said "kick racism out of football".
An anti-racism gesture that lasts about 5 seconds is upsetting so many people. Fuck knows why. But the constant online abuse of black players? Not a sound to be heard from them.
