Nick, We went from being almost certainties for the play offs to this. Watters was the main reason. Not just losing him but what that did to the mentality of the other players. Nadesan & Nicholls knew they had to train hard to get in the team with Max there. Now they know they are certainties to start. Another reason was the signing of 5 conference players in Dec & Jan. Another reason was we were abit unlucky with Hesketh injuries. Another reason was the selling of Ferguson and no CM Cover. Another reason is constantly playing Josh Wright. Another reason is under playing Davies, Watters, Tsaroulla & Hesketh. Hesketh should have played when 80% fit, he's better than the other Midfielders at 80% fit. You cannot just blame Yems, its Erdem at fault mainly with his silly statements and not being able to secure the sale of Watters until the end of the season.

Probably for the first time I tend to agree with the vast majority of what you say here..... but once again I think we need to buckle down and support Mr Yems as he works with what he has for the reasons you have given
I didn't enjoy that game at all. We never got started and only one real shot from Powell's free-kick I think it was that troubled their keeper. How did we go from possible play offs to mid-table slipping down the league? It cannot all be down to the sale of Watters surely? It's so disappointing especially at this end of the season when you are a season ticket holder feeling when you turn up to matches (or turn on to ifollow) you too, like the players today are just going through the motions. I miss my football but not that played today. I am genuinely pleased we haven't a home game for a while and I have no intention of rushing to pay ifollow for their poor service covering poor football from Crawley. What happened to the commentary it was missing for about 10-12 minutes at the start, not very professional.
You can’t blame the club for the commentary not going out, if that’s who you’re calling not very professional.

5 Conference players? Who were they then? None of the players we signed in January came from the National League (that’s what it’s called now).
As for Hesketh - how do you know if he was even 80% fit? The answer is that you don’t. And if we’d played him when he wasn’t fit, and he’d got injured, guess what - you’d be on here slagging off the manager for playing someone who wasn’t 100% fit.
Under playing of Watters? Clearly you’re an expert on players’ match fitness as well now. Judging by the amount of goals he scored, I’d say they got it about right.
So it’s Erdom’s fault as well is it? We can debate the sale of Watters until the cows come home but you can’t blame the club for cashing in on an asset when clubs are offering us serious money in this year of all years. We only get gates of 2,000 a game in a normal season, this season we’ve had 2,000 in total. Keeping hold of him till the end of the season? You make it sound so easy.
There are people on here (and other places) whose opinion I respect who are now calling for John Yems to go. That saddens me as I feel he has generally done well but the performances over the last month or so have really not been up to a standard he would have set the team.
I actually wish I could point a finger and say " that's it"! I bet Yems wishes he could point a finger and say "that's it"! I do have some ideas (Dalison, Craig and Tunnicliffe injuries: new players causing a change in systems) but I'm not sure.
Scream and shout at the screen, curse the players and staff left right and centre when we aint doing well but try to curb your aggravation before posting your thoughts and try to remember. We ain't the font of all football knowledge and we might be wrong.
Bring back Bulman to give midfield some leadership and to accommodate him drop J Wright pity we have giving him another two years on his contract. I just wish Yems would explain what he see's in him and what he brings to the team except making the numbers up.
Trev; maybe Yems looked at Wright's 85 appearances for Gillingham in League 1 a couple of seasons ago and thought he could get him back to that standard ?
I agree regarding Bulman with one caveat. I dont know how good he looks in training...is he training properly?
'JB' - Glad Yemsy is getting you a pint in - he needs 1. Just for the Record I would get rid of Erdem Konyar first - no hesistation - for reasons explained above. Your Drinking Buddy might be worth another try. He recruited some great players at Bournemouth and he recruited some great players in his first 12 months here, but after his pint with you he needs to then hold his hands up and explain to the fans what went wrong in the January Transfer Window because his x5 Dec & Jan Signings are All Conference Standard. No 2 ways about it. As for Hesketh & Watters, if you did not recognise they were the 2 class acts of the team then there is not much hope for you. Enjoy your Pint.
I'm pretty sure that Dannie said in an interview a while back that he is now able to pick which training sessions he does and that he also finds it difficult to play a game and recover in time for the following week. Apologies if I have misrepresented that but given our schedule of weekend/midweek matches, it would basically mean him only playing 2-3 games per month. Given that, I can understand why he hasn't been so involved as some of us would like but seeing as our injury list is growing, I'm sure he could give us a steadying presence in individual games, eg at Bradford next week. As for Josh Wright, I'm sure there is a good player in there somewhere but he maybe needs the right players round him, eg somebody like Camara to do all the nuts and bolts stuff. We are not overly blessed with strong driving midfield players which is why I always thought it a shame that it didn't work out with Nathan Ferguson. When teams close us down and don't let us play, we do seem to get outmuscled a bit too easily.
A year ago we went into lockdown having just beaten Oldham 3-0 with a real sense of momentum and building something promising. What a shame we are emerging from lockdown now with a very different feeling. Hopefully we can put some decent performances together in the remaining games and maybe give one or two of the younger players a chance to show what they can do.

Where have I said that didn’t recognise Hesketh or Watters as class acts? Re-read my post - merely asked how you knew Hesketh was ever 80% fit, and said that Watters needed his match fitness managed. No mention of their ability at all🙄
No defence can be given to yesterdays performance. Although Oldham played well, at times we looked all over the place. If we were choosing opponents to turn results, we would probably have chosen Oldham (with their off-field problems), but whoever you’re playing in league 2; you have to perform- points are never easily earned.
On the broader topic; I wouldn’t have appointed Yems but since his appointment he has met my expectations. My target for this season was above 60 points. This would represent our best season since relegation to league 2 (so our best points total in six years). So to meet my expectations I’d want three wins from the seven games (we’ll have to see an improvement to realise this).
We’ve also achieved the third best FA Cup run in our history and got great memories from that run (Torquay, AFC Wimbledon, Leeds – which I appreciate are diluted without us being in attendance).
We’ve also found a player and within weeks sold him for what is reported to be one million pounds.
In view of this I just don’t have the desire to see Yems sacked. I don’t like his abrasive style but he’s hardly alone in that (lots of football league mangers are lauded for this) and like lots of other posters I wonder about team selections (why was one of Bulman’s limited playing opportunities wasted in a friendly with Woking, why has German been seemingly frozen out, etc) but these are questions asked of every manager- these aren’t specific to Yems (I’ve had similar questions of every Crawley Manager at points during a season).
The views being expressed seem to be based upon expectation. If your expectations are ‘low’ they have been met and if they are ‘high’ you will be disappointed. What I don’t understand is why posters think promotion this season was almost a certainty. The day Max Watters left we weren’t even in the playoffs; so even with his goals we were short.
The logical argument then goes to wonder if selling Watters was the right decision; who knows ? But it would have been difficult to turn the money down and risk his value dropping (remember how Lubala’s performances dropped in the second of half of last season).
BTW instead of appointing Yems, I would have wanted us to approach Paul Tisdale, but he had a disastrous spell at Bristol Rovers- so what do I know; the grass isn’t always greener.
Listening on the radio talking about Liverpool fc. They have lost their last 6 home matches. If crowds had been let into the stadium Juergen would have been under terrific pressure. At least he is good at post match interviews.
All managers go through through tough spells. Some learn by their mistakes and become better managers. We are a small club with limited resources. Players must be sold to survive, bringing on young players is a good approach but we also need some experience.
My take on what has gone wrong since beating Leeds is that we have relied to much on Nichols. We could do with a target man for Nichols to feed off. Maybe German?
As I do not witness training sessions I have no idea whether this would work. I will leave that to John Yems

Yep. I remember Christmas 2019 and everyone saying Bez was worth £500k plus in the window.
This season Blackpool are flying but he hasn't scored once.
As you rightly said we weren't in the playoffs when Max left so anyone who thinks we were nailed on for the play offs is talking carp.

its really simple Simon to get the fact we were improving heading towards league 1 via the play offs not in there but heading that way. That all changed with the sale of Max whether that sale was necessary right or wrong doesnt alter where we were going.
