I’m sure German didn’t score a single goal for us last season. Why we kept him on again I don’t know. Up there with other baffling contract offers for Meite and Henderson. Meite we offered two contracts to and Henderson we offered him 3 contracts! Both hardly played and did nothing when they left us! Can only assume the owners keep a few youngsters on cheap contracts in the hope they may turn good so we can sell for a profit. Joe Mac unlucky like Sendles-White last season to not be offered another deal. P.s Bulman is a genuine Crawley legend and it will be sad day when he leaves. Hopefully he can stay and contribute in a playing or coaching role next season!

As I understand it, Sendles-White was offered another deal and quite a lot of effort went into trying to get him to stay. But yes, I was quite surprised that German was kept on. Unless there are circumstances that we haven't been told about I would have expected him to feature a little bit more towards the end of the season, especially after Nichols was suspended.
Towards the end of the season we were crying out for a big centre forward to take some of the pressure off Nadesan. I expected to see German at least get brought on as a substitute. I can only guess that he had an injury.
I’ve always thought German is a good player and the type of centre forward we’ve needed for a while. He DID score the game before we went into lockdown and it seemed like he was going to get a run out in the side from Yems and then the flame slowly died out.

I agree - he'd got his first goal and was starting to look the part and the team as a whole was starting to gain momentum when that season was terminated. I know Erdem hinted at one or two issues during the various lockdowns so I guess we don't always know what goes on behind the scenes. If he can recapture that form then he may give us an option for the sort of physical presence up front that I think we sometimes need.

Good points - to be fair to all parties the lockdown period has been a tough one and none of us know what personal challenges players may have had over the last 18 months. Clearly the club think the player still has the potential to break through which sounds a fair reason. I doubt he is on a big wage, and I would rather the club was backing younger players than spending money on Filipe Morais types only to find that other than for the money the player really doesn't want to be at Crawley.
I am quite surprised by Tarryn's release. I thought when he played he gave a lot of energy to the team. I always thought he gave 100%.
Me too, I thought he had a promising season. I don’t think any of the other decisions are a surprise. It just hasn’t happened for Sesay sadly but he may well do ok somewhere else, Joe Mac tremendous servant but we need a bit more pace and German I expect isn’t burdening the club with a lot of wages

The thing about Joe McNerney for me was that he really was a decent back up option. He wasn't getting into the side ahead of Tunnicliffe or Dalison but he was well liked around the club and when left out after a good performance you never heard of any toys being thrown out of the pram.
I think we will do well to get a better squad player than him and if we find a starting centre half we would probably lose one of our current starters.

Jim Baker
That’s a good point Jim. How many players are happy to sit in the bench and when called upon can step in and do a decent job? Players like that are few and far between.
I actually think we did find a much better back up centre back option in Sendles-White and the task of the recruitment team is to find another of that level of ability
